Alex Coombs studied Arabic at Oxford and Edinburgh Universities and went on to work in adult education and then retrained to be a chef,
Alex Coombs was born in Lambeth in south London. Silenced for Good is the first of a new series of novels featuring Hanlon as a PI. He lives in South Bucks but has family in Scotland and spends a considerable amount of time in Edinburgh and Argyll.
Alex is the author of four previous novels featuring Hanlon in the police ( the DCI Hanlon series). He also writes light-hearted crime fiction as HVCoombs for One More Chapter/Harper Collins.
His hobbies are learning French, German and Italian. He likes dogs. His favorite books, The Execution of Justice by Durrenmatt, Labyrinths by Borges, The Flavour Thesaurus by Niki Segnit.He is a qualified chef and was once sous-chef is an award-winning gastropub.

Buried For Good Review:
“Buried For Good” was indeed a gripping page-turner and very entertaining. It is a book that delivers what you expect and kept me guessing.
The author did an excellent job in writing the tale. From the get-go, you meet the characters surrounding Camille’s life. Like Hanlon, you start to see all the characters as potential suspects. What’s more interesting is that they all have a motive to harm Camille for what she knowingly (or unknowingly) did to them. As the story progresses, you see the list of suspects come down as they get murdered! Some of the scenes are pretty graphic and shocked me. The author did a brilliant job of throwing the red herrings where you don’t know what is happening and who is to blame.
I liked Hanlon in the lead and how she handled the case. The author also spends time with her personal life and her relationship with Murdo Campbell. I also liked the scenes where she visits her therapist to sort out the issues she faces. Even the supporting cast like Camille, O’Rourke, and Anna was interesting. But, one person who stood out for me was Strom. I found Strom to be fascinating and wished we had seen more of him. He is mysterious, mystical, and so captivating, I had no idea what his role in the story would be.
However, once I finished the story, looking back, I felt some of the character’s behaviors seemed disconnected. I am not giving away any spoilers, but it didn’t warranty their actions.
Apart from that, I thoroughly enjoyed “Buried For Good” and liked it much more than “Missing for Good.”
