- THE ONLY THING STANDING BETWEEN HER AND DANGER IS A 6’5″ NAVY SEAL
- HEART-RACING PASSION, HEART-STOPPING SUSPENSE, HEARTWARMING ROMANCE
Calliope Garland’s newsdesk assignment was fairly straightforward-dig up the dirt on the sketchy CEO of a Wall Street hedge fund. But when the man is murdered and valuable data destroyed, a simple investigation turns deadly. Calliope is unwittingly in possession of vital financial information and a priceless work of art, either of which may get her killed. With an ever-growing list of people who want to harm her, Calliope must set aside her reservations and turn to the one man she knows she can trust.
Miller’s “Tox” Buchanan is a study in contradictions. He is not only kind but also lethal. He is passionate but distant, self-possessed yet hesitant. And He knows he should keep his distance. But when Calliope is in danger, Tox will stop at nothing to protect her.
Her first instinct wasn’t to dial 911 but rather to call a certain Navy SEAL. She forced down the antiquated damsel in distress fantasy floating around in her head and rationalized the police would surely ask questions she was unwilling to answer. She brought up her contacts. At the bottom, she touched the entry labeled Tox, and the call rang through. A grizzly bear answered!
Advice: This story contains scenes of violence equivalent to an R-rated movie and explicit sexual situations.

Illicit Intent Review:
The author did a lovely job in writing the tale. Even though I haven’t read the previous book in the series, I could still follow the plot and relate to the characters. Many events take place, with something new happening in each chapter. Hence, I never found myself having a dull moment. There are parallel mysteries the take place, and somehow, unfortunately, they seem to be interconnected with Calliope. Moreover, the author also swaps the timelines between the present and the past, and it was interesting to see how John Reardon’s storyline connected with the present timeline.
Some of the memorable moments were when Calliope encounters the three men who follow her or when the mysterious Caleb watches them from a distance. Speaking of Caleb, many characters in the story make it entertaining. You have people like Roman, Clara, and Caleb who have their agendas for targeting Tox and Calliope, and it was fun to guess the reasons behind them. Furthermore, the author adds quite a few twists and turns. The twist in the ending revolving around one of the characters completely shocked me and made the story memorable.
And finally, the romance! The author also puts in enough space to develop Tox and Calliope’s relationship. Both of them share sizzling chemistry that heated the pages. However, there were times where I felt their romance sidetracked away from the plot. But, the author never made it stagnant. I also liked the scenes where Tox goes to Dr. Sharon Frank for therapy.
Overall, “Illicit Intent” was an exciting, adventurous story! I recommend it to those who are in the mood for a new action romance.
