Bridgerton fans and readers of Madeline Hunter, Eloisa James, and Lisa Kleypas won’t want to miss this humorous and clever new love story from the historical romance legend.
Sheridan Wolfe, Duke of Armitage, determines to finally solves the mysteries behind the suspicious deaths of their mother’s three husbands. So, he takes the help of his stepsiblings. Tasked with investigating a possible suspect, Sheridan finds himself in dangerous proximity to her captivating daughter, Vanessa Pryde. But still troubled by a tragically lost love, the duke is resolved to resist the attraction. And would like to avoid any cunning husband hunters. Besides, lovely Miss Pryde seems in love with a roguish London playwright.
Besides, Vanessa thinks a little cunning may be in order. For it’s Sheridan she truly has set her sights and her heart on. Her flirtation is intended only to break through his business-like appearance and guarded emotions. And as Sheridan’s jealousy becomes aroused, the two soon find themselves propelled into a scheme of an altogether different kind, involving a pretend engagement, a secret inquiry—and a perhaps not-so-secret leap into true love.

Undercover Duke Review:
“Undercover Duke” is the final book in the “Duke Dynasty” series and was entertaining and satisfying to read.
What’s been fun about this series is how the author manages to distinguish each novel. None of the four stories nor the couples feel repetitious or similar to each other. Each of the characters has a unique personality and stands apart from each other.
Sheridan and Vanessa are fun in the lead. Sheridan is conflicted over his feelings for Vanessa. He doesn’t want to force himself into marriage with her after what happened with his family. Similarly, Vanessa feels that Sheridan is hiding something from his past and doesn’t want him to feel obligated to marry her. Nevertheless, they share charming chemistry. I also liked Vanessa’s conversations with Mr. Juncker. It was also lovely to see Joshua and Thorn back in the tale as they try to figure out who is behind the murders. Moreover, the author did a fine job covering the mystery behind the murders from book one in this tale. However, I wish there were more focus on this part, as the focus was on Sheridan and Vanessa’s feelings for each other.
Moreover, I felt a few things were not consistent with the previous stories. For instance, Grey has an indifferent attitude towards Vanessa in the story, where they were good friends in the first book. Also, I thought Grey had overcome his feeling with Lady Eustace in book one, but he is hostile towards her again here.
Apart from that, “Undercover Duke” is a satisfying conclusion to the series and a fun romantic book. However, I recommend reading the entire series instead of jumping directly on this one.
