The Lost Great Dane is the first novella in the Lost and Found Pets series. Alexandra Prescott is a licensed private investigator specializing in finding missing animals. Reuniting pet and owner is more than just a job.
While looking for a lost cat, Alex finds a weak and injured Great Dane. The dog has no collar, no tags, and no microchip. And the only person looking for him is a man who might have murdered his own wife.
Within 24 hours, Alex has a hunted dog, a cryptic message, and a hitman on her tail. She realizes the only way out of this mess is to solve the mystery of the lost Great Dane.
About the Author:
B. L. Blair writes mystery/romance stories. Like most authors, she has been writing most of her life and has dozens of books started. She needs the time to finish them.
She is the author of the Leah Norwood Mysteries and the Lost and Found Pets Mystery Novellas. Blair loves reading books, writing books, and traveling wherever and as often as time and money allow. She is currently working on her latest book set in Texas, where she lives with her family.
The Lost Great Dane Review:
I love reading cozy mysteries. Add it to my love for dogs, and I adored reading “The Lost Great Dane”!
I enjoyed the author’s simple yet effective style of writing. The book is short and would encourage even reluctant readers to sit and read. I appreciated many small details the author added, like how Alex manages the business and the customers. Moreover, the author also adds anecdotes of other cases Alex handles, like Molly the parrot and Mr. Fluffy the cat. Simba is adorable in the lead as the Great Dane, and I wished the author made him more prominent.
Similarly, The author also wrote the characters well. I liked Alex in the lead and how she investigates the case with the microchip. Alex and Luke are cute in the role and show potential as a couple. Harvey is also adorable! Another reason why I admired the story because the author didn’t sidetrack the mystery to prioritize Alex’s feelings. The tale balances nicely between Alex’s feelings and the case, which I appreciated. Moreover, the author also keeps some plots open-ended, like the one revolving around Nathaniel, which makes me want to pick up the next book to see how it continues.
Overall, “The Lost Great Dane” is a fun start to the “Lost and Found Pets Mystery” series, and I look forward to reading more adventures with Alex, Luke and Claire.
