#1 New York Times bestselling author of Everything, Everything and The Sun is Also a Star Nicola Yoon is back with her eagerly anticipated third novel. With all the heart and hope of her last two books, this is an utterly unique romance.
Evie Thomas doesn’t believe in love anymore. Especially after the strangest thing occurs one otherwise ordinary afternoon: She witnesses a couple of kisses and is overcome with a vision of how their romance began . . . and how it will end. After all, even the greatest love stories end with a broken heart, eventually.
Evie tries to understand why this is happening. She finds herself at La Brea Dance studio, learning to waltz, fox-trot, and tango with a boy named X. X is everything that Evie is not: adventurous, passionate, daring. His philosophy is to say yes to everything–including entering a ballroom dance competition with a girl he’s only just met.
Falling for X is definitely not what Evie had in mind. If her visions of heartbreak have taught her anything, it’s that no one escapes love unscathed. But as she and X dance around and toward each other, Evie is forced to question all she thought she knew about life and love. In the end, is love worth the risk?

Instructions for Dancing Review:
There are so many things which I loved about “Instructions for Dancing.” Firstly, I adored the way the author narrated the story. It stands apart from other YA contemporary novels because of the author’s style. I loved the magical elements the author added when Yvette starts seeing the visions. On a side note, I enjoyed the cute inserts between the chapters that summarize Evie’s thoughts or chat messages. This style made the reading experience so enjoyable! I also loved all the author’s pop culture references, like the movie “Big.”
Similarly, I loved Evie in the lead from the start and how she doesn’t have faith in romance initially. As the story progressed, I felt more connected to Evie. I could understand the feelings she was going through to open up and believe in love again. One of the memorable moments is how she handles the relationship with her father. The author also keeps the story fresh by focusing on multiple side storylines, like Sophie and Cassidy, Danica and Ben, etc.
And let’s not forget the romance. Evie and X are adorable together. I loved the moments where we read the lyrics to their song and the ‘not a date’ dates they go on to get to know each other. Also, one of my favorite characters was Fifi, and I laughed at her dramatic personality.
Moreover, there is something new that happens till the very end, which held my interest. In many YA contemporary books, you can usually predict how the story will turn out mid-way. But in this book, I had no idea how Evie would resolve and get over her conflicts.
Overall, I loved everything about “Instructions for Dancing” and hope they turn it into a movie someday!
