Safe Harbour Review:

I read the previous book “A Perfect Storm” last year and eager to see the new installment in the Sgt. Windflower series. The book was equally entertaining, and I enjoyed revisiting the characters.

To begin with, I enjoy the author’s writing style is because of the emphasis he puts on family life. More than the mystery, I loved reading about Windflower’s idyllic life with Sheila, Stella, and Amelia Louise. I enjoyed Stella’s side storyline of not talking and having a hard time in kindergarten. In this book, I also enjoyed the scenes between Windflower and Pittman and the wisdom Windflower imparts. On a side note, I also liked the author’s sayings and inspirational quotes in their conversations.

Moreover, Windflower is a great character, and his character stays consistent with the previous novels. I liked the crime element of the story and how Windflower investigates the case of the missing girls. Similar to the last book, I also loved Sgt. Windflower’s unique talents for dream weaving. His interactions with various animals like the raccoon, duck, and beaver gave this book a special touch. I loved how the creatures gave him clues to solve the case. It was also interesting to see Windflower’s rivalry with Lars Lundquist. As the story progresses, you realize that the mystery is wrapped in a more extensive operation, making it intriguing to read.

Overall, “Safe Harbour” is a lovely continuation of the series. However, even if you have not read the previous books in the series, you can still read this one as a standalone.
