Hooray! Fiona has finally convinced her boyfriend detective Nathan Landry to go on a romantic Caribbean cruise.

Unfortunately, their fun on the high seas is interrupted by murder. It isn’t long before they discover a boatload of suspects, who have motives deeper than the ocean for wanting the victim out of their lives.

About the Author:

For twenty-six years, C.S. McDonald’s life whirled around a song and a dance. Classically trained at Pittsburgh Ballet Theater School, The Pittsburgh Dance Alloy, and many others, she became a professional dancer and choreographer.

In 2011 she retired from her dance career to write. Under her real name, Cindy McDonald, she writes murder-suspense and romantic suspense novels. Also, in 2014 she added the pen name, C.S. McDonald, to write children’s books for her grandchildren. Also, in 2016 she added the Fiona Quinn Mysteries. Presently, the Fiona Quinn Mysteries has nine books.

Cindy’s newest venture is The Owl’s Nest Mysteries. Once again, she has set her cozy mystery in Pittsburgh. Moreover, the Owl’s Next Mysteries has a little grit, a little time travel, a little romance, and a whole lot of cozy!

Cindy resides on her Thoroughbred farm known as Fly by Night Stables near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Bill, and she poorly behaved Cocker Spaniel, Allister.

Although I have not read the previous books in the series, “Bon Voyage to Murder” was a lovely cozy murder mystery that entertained me throughout the book.

Let’s start with the murder mystery. I thought the author wrote the suspense very well. As soon as the story begins, you see the bitter rivalry between Dusty and Cassidy, which goes long back. And then, one of them dies, and the other one is the prime suspect. I enjoyed how the author paced the storyline with various twists and turns. One memorable moment in the story is when Nathan jumps overboard the ship to save one of them. The author added some very intense moments to the storyline that made it gripping. Even the supporting characters like Andrew and Serafina were charming, and I adored Captain Baptiste.

Similarly, the author also balanced the seriousness of the murder mystery with the lighthearted humor of Chad’s storyline. Chad needs to take care of Fiona’s pet Harriet but loses her. I laughed at the way he reaches out to Franklin to help find Harriet. However, there were moments where I felt that the author dragged Chad’s storyline, and I hoped the author had focused more on the mystery.

Moreover, I loved Nathan and Fiona’s relationship. The author wrote their scenes wonderfully, and I loved the way their relationship progressed towards the end. Reading this book has tempted me to read the first seven books because I adored this couple.

Overall, “Bon Voyage to Murder” is a lovely cozy mystery novel that a person can read even stand alone. I highly recommend it to those who are fans of the genre.
