Jada Marlone’s life appears to be perfect on social media. She has a loving husband, a beautiful child, and a successful career. What she doesn’t post about is the disconnect she feels in her marriage, the difficulties of motherhood, and her strained relationship with her mother.
Resigned to never being truly happy, Jada runs into an ex-boyfriend. While trying to decide whether the coincidence is her second chance at happiness, Jada begins having dreams that feature her dead cousin Gina.
With Gina’s help, Jada starts to uncover the real reasons behind her life decisions. As Jada tries to figure out her future, uncontrollable events threaten her resolve. Will she be able to draw from all she learned from Gina, or will she risk making the same mistakes twice?

Better Believe It Review:
“Better Believe It” is a charming and humorous contemporary novel about a woman’s decisions that could change her idyllic life.
This story is one of the few where I was not fond of the main character at all. Initially, Jada comes off as self-centered and does not appreciate how lucky she is. She has an idyllic life and yet cannot find any meaning to it. In a way, I could relate to what she was going through, but I still did not like her. However, I did start to like her eventually, especially once Gina came into the picture. I loved the relationship between Gina and Jada and how the ghost begins to impact the decisions Jada makes.
The author spins the tale in a snarky and creative manner. She adds the right level of humor to make the story light-hearted yet emotional and meaningful. For me, some of the memorable moments in the tale were when Todd comes into the picture, and Jada wonders if this is a sign or of the events on Ethan’s fourth birthday. Moreover, what surprised me was how the author added layers to Jada’s personality, which made me eventually like her without making the story dark. However, more than Jada, Gina was the tale’s highlight, and I thought she brought the story to life. I also adored Ethan and thought the author realistically portrayed him.
Also, I think the author conveyed Jada’s relationship with her mother also nicely. While the two of them don’t see eye to eye, it was interesting to see how similar they are.
Overall, “Better Believe It” was a fun read, and I would recommend it if you are in the mood for a charming contemporary chick-lit.
