Seventy-year-old Goldie Sparrows faces declining finances, questionable health, and a late husband who torments her from the beyond. She seeks refuge in her butterfly garden, which is filled with voices and memories from long ago.
Jocelyn Anderson is a struggling writer who finds escape from her custody battle in the journal of her late mother-in-law. As she gets pulled through the pages of time, Jocelyn discovers her own husband has a hidden history she knows nothing about. Is this secret now Jocelyn’s to keep?
Krystal Axelrod is living a life she never dreamed she could have. And yet the demons of a dysfunctional childhood and mean girl culture from her cheerleading days cast their shadow over her ability to feel whole, capable, and worthy. Does Goldie hold the key to Krystal’s path to freedom?
A masterfully crafted tale of love, friendship, betrayal, and the risks we take in the pursuit of justice.

SUZANNE SIMONETTI grew up in the New York suburbs just outside of the city. After earning a BS in marketing, she spent several years writing press releases, until she left her corporate job to focus on her passion for crafting fiction. "The Sound of Wings" is a beautiful tale about three women whose lives change as they get to know each other, and it was touching.
I love tales with flawed characters who fight their difficulties and change their lives for the better. The author beautifully spins this tale about three women, Jocelyn. Krystal and Goldie. Each one of them faces their problems and insecurities, different from each other. It was interesting to see how they all got together and faced their challenges.
Moreover, I loved the author's exquisite style of writing from the first page. The central aspect that stood out for me was the beautiful description of butterflies. I got to know about Monarchs, kaleidoscopes, and the various species. There is a touch of mystery, suspense, romance, and even historical fiction, all of which the author blends beautifully to the three characters. Frankly, the author glued me to the scenes where Jocelyn reads Daisy Jane's entries. There are even little moments, like when the author talks about how songbirds want us to sing, which I found inspiring.
Initially, Krystal immediately caught my attention because of her self-consciousness. Even though she leads the lavish life she dreamed out, she still remembers the past and feels inferior in some ways. As the substantial progress, you start to see her shine with self-confidence. Similarly, Goldie was my second favorite because I enjoyed the suspense with Simon and Patrick and how they haunted her. In my opinion, Jocelyn was not as strong as Krystal and Goldie, but I also enjoyed her storyline where she deals with Trevor and Hannah. Even the supporting characters like Abe and Bruce are memorable.
Overall, "The Sound of Wings" turned out to be a beautiful read, and I found it a dazzling debut by the author.
