‘Wonderfully romantic’ Sandy BarkerEscape to the breath-taking beauty of Venice – The City of Love.
When pragmatic, sensible and resolutely single Deirdre York (Didi to her friends) is sent to Venice for work she is determined not to be taken in by the romantic clichés. Winter in the floating city may be breathtakingly beautiful, but she’s here with a clear purpose and will not let the magic of Venice distract her.
Piero Zanetti is the epitome of the handsome yet tortured artist. Heart-broken by the end of his love affair with a glamorous opera singer, he has lost his ability to work, and his inspiration has drained away, along with his zest for life.
But Didi needs Piero working – she has been tasked with commissioning him to do a glass centrepiece for a luxury department store Christmas display – some how Didi has to cheer Piero up or at least find him a new muse…
As Didi and Piero slowly become friends, and as Venice starts to melt Didi’s heart and gently nudge Piero out of the blues, something special begins to happen. Can Venice – the City of Love – work a Christmas miracle and help Didi and Piero to find their happiness at last…
Leonie Mack is back with the most gloriously romantic escape, perfect for all fans of Mandy Baggot, Jo Thomas and Carole Matthews.
‘Leonie has written another gorgeous love letter to Italy. She’s fast becoming a favourite of mine with her warm, relatable heroines, beautiful settings and brooding romantic heroes. I cannot wait to return to Venice for Norah’s story.’ Sarah Bennett

A Match Made in Venice Review:
“A Match Made in Venice” is a simply adorable book and that will warm your heart.
Last year, I read “My Christmas Number One,” so I knew I would enjoy the romance by the author. The author brings Venice to life in this book, and I thought it was such a gorgeous setting for the plot. I have never been to the place before, but after reading this book, I want to go there and encounter the same romance as the characters. The author also describes unique places like Lido di Venezia and Murano, with the Gondolas and the Broken Glass, that made me fall in love with the country. The author also adds some surprising twists, like when Didi finds out the truth of where she has been staying.
Also, the two leads are so adorable. Didi and Piero don’t meet under the best circumstances, but it was nice to see how the author progressed their relationship. I particularly liked Didi’s emotions on how reluctant she is to admit that she has feelings for Piero and only considers him as a friend. The author has a beautiful writing style, contemporary romance, and Didi and Piero share many beautiful moments. From taking his hand to haul into the boat, watching the Christmas tree light up, to spending time at Lido, I couldn’t get enough of these two.
Moreover, even the supporting characters are charming. I liked Saffron and Neal’s side storyline and thought it blended well with the plot. Didi also shares lovely chemistry with her sister Norah, and likewise, I liked Piero’s complex relationship with his father. Even Salvatore and Francesca were fun to read.
Overall, “A Match Made in Venice” is an adorable contemporary romance that will make you fall in love with Italy.
