Sometimes the past finds you through the most unexpected people.
Jason Cavanaugh isn’t interested in romance. He only came to Brandywood to stop a private investigator from discovering the son his late brother never knew. There’s no reason the entire Cavanaugh estate should go to a toddler that resulted from a meaningless fling. But Jason couldn’t have prepared himself for his nephew’s gorgeous mother. Sparks are flying between them but if Jen really knew what he was doing in town, she’d hate him.
Single mom Jen Klein is sick of working two jobs and still being broke. And her dating life seems plagued by bad luck and losers. She knows better than to look twice at the charming, mysterious man that just arrived in her small town. But something about him is irresistible, even though he’s clearly passing through. Would it be so bad to let herself have a little fun?
Yet one night no longer seems like enough and Jason is realizing how little he understood about his brother. The harder he tries to hide his secrets from Jen, the closer he comes to revealing a shocking truth about himself . . . and Jason might be dangerously close to losing something much more valuable than a fortune.
About the Author:
Annabelle McCormack spins you tales of epic historical adventure, heartfelt romance, and complex family dynamics with strong female protagonists to make things interesting. She graduated from the Johns Hopkins University’s M.A. in Writing Program. She’s a sucker for pizza (cheese, bread, and tomatoes are the perfect foods) and mangoes, loves baking and photography, and never wants to do laundry again. She lives in Maryland with her hilarious husband, where she serves as a snack bitch for her (lucky-they’re-cute) five children and three boxers.
She’s half-Costa Rican and speaks fluent Spanish, so you can always drop her a line in either English or Spanish. Pura vida!
I’ll Carry You Review:
“I’ll Carry You” is a lovely romance novel about two characters who come together under unique circumstances, making the story stand out.
Even though I have read a few romance novels, the premise differs from the standard. I have not read the previous book in the series, so I was curious if some characters are interconnected. But you can easily read this as a standalone.
I loved the chemistry between Jen and Jason. Jason enters Jen’s life under pretenses, and you know he will get into big trouble when she finds out. But they spark the pages when they are together. Moreover, I loved the scenes where he bonds with Colby, knowing they share a deeper connection. Colby is adorable and melted my heart. My heart went to Jen for all her financial difficulties and how Jason entered her life at the perfect time. The two share fantastic chemistry.
Similarly, even the supporting characters are lovely. I loved Mildred’s snarky attitude toward Jason, Dan’s protective nature toward Jen, and even TJ’s helpfulness in keeping Amanda and Ned away from Jason. The story progresses well, and you wonder what will happen to the couple once everything comes out. My favorite moments were when they participated in the baking competition, or Jason took Jen out for coffee after Brad broke up with her. The author also sets up the setting of the small town of Brandywood nicely, where you feel like you know everyone there.
Overall, the author did a beautiful job writing the genre, and I am eager to read the first book to find out how it started. Overall, “I’ll Carry You” is a charming romance novel worth checking out!
