Alabama, 1947.
War’s over, cherry-print dresses, parking above the city lights, swing dancing.
Beautiful, seventeen-year-old Violet lives in a perfect world.
Everybody loves her.
In 2012, she’s still beautiful, charming, and surrounded by admirers.
Veronica “Ronni” Johnson, licensed practical nurse and aspiring writer, meets the captivating Violet in the assisted living facility. Here Violet requires no assistance, just lots of male attention. When she dies, she leaves Ronni a very generous bequest. That is only if Ronni completes a book about her life within one year. As she’s drawn into the world of young Violet, Ronni is mesmerized by life in a simpler time. It’s an irresistible journey filled with revelations, some of them about men Ronni knew as octogenarians at Fairfield Springs.
Struggling, insecure, flailing at the keyboard, Ronni juggles her patients, a new boyfriend, and a Samsonite factory of emotional baggage as she tries to craft a manuscript before her deadline.
But then the secrets start to emerge, some of them in person. And they don’t stop.
Everything changes.
Alternating chapters between Homecoming Queen Violet in 1947 and can’t-quite-find-her-crown Ronni in the present, IT ALL COMES BACK TO YOU is book club fiction at its hilarious, warm, sad, outrageous, uplifting, and stunning best.

It All Comes Back To You Review:
The author does a beautiful job of adding drama, humor, and romance together. I loved reading Violet and Ronnie’s storyline, but Violet was my favorite. Violet leads an unforgettable journey, and I could not put down the book, whether it was surrounding Johnny, Chet, Sam, or the dastardly Tolly. I despised Tolly to the core and wondered how Violet would survive him. At the same time, Chet and Violet’s scenes initially warmed my heart.
Similarly, Ronnie also had her moments; I loved the scenes revolving around Jocelyn or when she conversed with Victoria. The author also wrote Ronnie’s drama with Rick, and I enjoyed reading about their ups and downs. Kait and the tenants of Fairfield Springs also add humor to the story and, in the end, make you feel like your family, especially Audrey.
My only criticism of the story is how the author broke my trust in many supporting characters. Most, if not all, of the supportive men who encounter Violet’s life betray her somehow, and it was hard for me to root for the romance. There were some pairings that I loved seeing Violet with, but the shocking events made my hopes shatter for them being together. Also, while I loved Violet, she always needed a man to rescue her.
Apart from that, “It All Comes Back To You” is a beautiful historical/contemporary romance that I could not put down, and I cannot wait to read the sequel. The author left some plots unexplained with some characters, so reading more of their stories would be interesting.
