More than a year after graduating from college, Nyra is beginning to wonder when her life, professional and personal, gets started. Was it like this for her mother? She doubts it, but things were different, then. Nyra’s reality is nothing like her mother’s. Each generation confronts its own challenges.

Still, she’s tired of feeling like she’s wading through waist-deep wet cement. Buried somewhere deep in a future she can sense but not feel, Nyra can hear the siren’s song of hope and hypothetical options whispering to her. Hence, she’s so ready! But is the song she hears hope or just an illusion?

Best Case Scenario is the first act in Nyra Westensee’s journey from student to self-aware, fully actualized woman.

About the Author:

Dirk’s path to authorship wasn’t quite an accident, but almost. It’s not that he didn’t write. He did. But through two previous careers, first as a Marine officer and subsequently as a corporate trainer, Dirk started way more stories than he finished.” However, in the backwash of the 2008 financial meltdown, his employer filed for Chapter 11. Cordially invited to leave and not return, Dirk found himself out of work and excuses.

Since then, Dirk has published West of Tomorrow, Best-Case Scenario and a collection of short fiction entitled, Through the Windshield and Tier Zero, Volume I of The Knolan Cycle, all available from Amazon in Kindle and paperback formats. Works in progress include The Year of Maybe, sequel to Best-Case Scenario, and Eryinath-5, Volume II of the Knolan Cycle.

Best Case Scenario by  Review:

Best Case Scenario is one of those stories that anyone been who has been in love can relate to. It is a quick yet memorable read.

The author writes the story in such a breezy and charming manner. Firstly, the story is pretty simple, where you don’t have shocking plot twists or conniving characters. Yet, you still enjoy it because of the characters. All the characters are unique in their own manner. I really liked Nyra as the main character. I think many of us go through a phase of exploring our sexuality when growing up. Hence, it was nice how the author realistically depicted Nyra’s emotions and heartaches. Moreover, I liked Toni and Kip as well and hope they makes an appearance in the sequel.

Secondly, there were some parts of the story that really struck a note. For instance, I really liked when Nyra and Kip talk about how many people turn out average after being told that they can achieve anything. The author brings out some interesting points about love, sexuality and growing up and finding yourself. On a side note, I also liked how the author included Nyra’s work life and office culture into the story-line.

However, there were instances where I felt the plot was a tad repetitious. For instance, nothing new happens in Nyra’s life in the last few chapters. While it is nice to read her road to self-discovery, it would have been better if the author included more situations that she went through.

Apart from that, this is actually a very good start to the series. Overall, Best Case Scenario is a quick, easy, and very nice book to read.
