From Romania with Love Review:

This book was entertaining because it felt like a beautiful travel guide blended with the author’s experiences.

This book also felt so personal because it is based off true events. Hence you feel like you are reliving the experiences with the author. The first half is light and exotic with their travels to Romania and Egypt. But, there are some dark moments like how the Egyptians react to them with America’s war on Iraq. However, the story really picked up when Brian starts working in the cruise ship. He faces various challenges of ship life and experiences different situations and cultures.

Moreover, I liked Brian and Romina’s relationship in the second half. I also enjoyed their discussions and perceptions on movies, animals, gypsies and learning new Romanian terms. Furthermore, it was interesting to see how lavish their lifestyle was in Romania, but we see if they can fight for their relationship in the ship. Brian is wonderful as the lead. On a side note, I liked Brian’s diary entries, and felt it paid homage to the letter entries of “Dracula”. Similarly, I also liked Codi and Mioara as they were adorable.

My only criticism with the story is how there are many supporting characters but you don’t really get to know them. There are so many interesting characters like Deagos, Alexandra, Vaduva, Greta, Eka and Agni. However, they only appear for a few scenes and stay off canvas.

Apart from that, this is an entertaining book. Overall, “From Romania with Love” is a very nice start to the series. I look forward to reading Book 2 of the series.
