Past secrets return to complicate Maisie’s future with the charming Sidney Daniels in the final installment of the Cornish romance series.

Maisie Picks up from where book seven left off.  Her plans to celebrate her book’s thrilling news remain on hold due to Sidney. He has vanished from Port Hewer overnight, following a brush with his secret past. His departure leaves Maisie with a head full of questions and a heart torn in two. Also, there are worse rumors flying about him through the town. Where and why has he gone? Will he ever come back again? And—foremost in Maisie’s mind—was the heartache from his younger days somehow to blame for his sudden and mysterious flight?

But when Dean convinces her that Sidney may be facing a choice that could ruin his life. Now,  Nevertheless, Maisie must set out to find him.  She has to leave the Cornish seaside haven of Port Hewer once again as an elusive home. This also means she leaves behind the answer to a secret she wanted to know since the beginning. Not knowing when or if she’ll return, she’s taking the biggest risk with her heart so far. And the truth she discovers waiting for her at the end of her journey will make her wonder if things can ever possibly be the same as they were before.

Questions are answered, secrets are spilled, and the biggest reveal of the series is finally unveiled as A LITTLE HOTEL IN CORNWALL reaches its exciting conclusion.

The Cornish Key to Happiness Review:

The Cornish Key to Happiness was a beautiful ending to a charming series. I loved reading this and will miss some of these characters.

You know how talented an author is when she reveals something new about the main characters in the 8th book of the series. Even though I got into this series pretty late (from the 6th book), I was shocked when we learn the truth about Sidney and his heritage. The author has a few surprises up her sleeve to deliver in the novel, and they do not fail.

Maisie is adorable in the lead as she tries to solve the answers of who Alistair Davies is and the mystery woman who Sidney goes after. I also loved Adele as the new character, and she gave the story an aristocratic touch. She spices the plot with her snobbish attitude and snarky retorts. As the author mentions, the storyline felt like an episode of Downton Abbey, and it was very entertaining. Similarly, Sidney and Maisie share a wonderful romance, and I loved the ‘will they, won’t they’ buildup.

However, I did miss the supporting characters of the hotel from the previous books. I wanted more of Riley, Molly, Brigette, and even Norman. While the earlier books had quite a lot of supporting characters, this book mainly revolved around Maisie, Sidney, and Adele. Another thing that I missed in the story was Dean’s deep conversations. They were the highlights in the previous novels, and I missed the presence of this profound character.

Overall, if you have not read this series yet, and you love contemporary romance set in the cornish landscape, pick it up and start reading.
