She offered them a place to stay. They wanted so much more.
Hannah’s life is almost perfect. She’s a full-time mother to two young children and married to successful cardiologist Daniel.
The only thing missing is a project of her own. So she has poured heart and soul into converting their stone barn into a beautiful holiday rental.
Things take a dark turn when visitors Mike and Nadia come to stay. They are noisy, dirty, and disrespectful. Hannah is angry with their behavior, worried they may wreck her lovingly restored barn.
But she gradually realizes that property damage is the least of her worries. Nadia and Mike aren’t here just for a holiday – they have a deeper, darker purpose, one that threatens to destroy Hannah’s entire life.
Spiraling into a nightmare that grows worse with each passing day, Hannah has to find the courage to fight back. But Mike and Nadia are clever and ruthless, and they know something that Hannah doesn’t – a shocking secret from the past…
The Visitors – the stunning psychological thriller from the best-selling author of Roses are Red and The Arrangement.
Author Bio:
I have been writing all my life, but only turned to fiction in the last two years – and I love it! After a degree in Law, I worked in marketing in London and Eastern Europe. I then set up and sold businesses in the horticultural, leisure, and retail sectors. Along the way, I got a master’s in writing and wrote the self-help book, How Compatible Are You? and biography, The Eccentric Entrepreneur. In 2015, I was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma. After a grueling year, I wrote the novel, Don’t Call Me Brave, very loosely drawing upon my cancer experiences.
I now live in Sussex with my husband, our musician daughter, and black Labrador. I Want You Gone is my first psychological thriller. Fatal Fortune, Fatal Flowers, and Fatal Finale are part of a new thriller series featuring Dr. Pippa Durrant, a lie detection specialist. The books can be read as a series or stand-alone. Deserve To Die is another stand-alone psychological thriller. If you would like a free short story, please check out my website at www.mirandarijks.com. And do drop me a line! The Visitors Review:
I always love reading a good thriller, and this book does not disappoint.
The author nicely writes the book. It’s hard to put this book down once you start reading it. The author writes the story using short sentences that grabs your attention. Moreover, the plot is gripping, that holds your interest. The author also nicely paced the book. It starts slowly but picks up gradually, which leads to an exciting climax. Also, the ending had a nice twist to it that I did not see coming.
However, I thought the story ended abruptly and felt rushed. Moreover, while I enjoyed the plot, I did not care for the characters much. I felt Hannah came across as a weak character. At times, I wanted to shake her because she makes faulty decisions. It takes a while for her to stand up for herself. Daniel also unnerved me.
Nevertheless, the author writes the story in such a compelling manner that I could not put it down. Overall, “The Visitors” is a good mystery thriller that I enjoyed reading.
