Basically, On the remote, sub-tropical Coco Island, Mac, Merrow, Patience, Will, and Dan live peacefully together. But, trouble starts when an argument between Patience and Dan got out of hand.

Up against Patience’s bossing around them, Will and Dan decide to find a place of their own. Hence, under cover of darkness, they leave the island. But they don’t realize the danger of sailing into the open ocean without informing others or their final destination.

Meanwhile, a tropical storm gathers speed and rushes at them with full force in the middle of the ocean. Whilst trying to turn the sail to steer away from the storm, their mast snaps and goes overboard along with the now shredded sail, leaving Will and Dan at the mercy of the rough sea. Surviving the storm, they lose their food and drinking, they drift along helplessly ‒ but finally, they land on a small island, with a dark mist surrounding it.

Not to mention, on the island, Will and Dan survive dangerous black swamps and hear frightening cries as they explore. Meeting an older man, he takes them to a clearing in the forest. He points to a drinking well and explains the island’s curse and the cries Will and Dan had heard came from the Well of Lost Souls. Can they escape? They don’t know that back on Coco Island, Mac, Merrow, and Patience are preparing to set out to look for them. Soon all of them will be on this adventure together.

Can they break the curse, release everyone from Dark Island and help free those poor lost souls?

Author Bio:

I’m a Yorkshire girl from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. I have lived and worked in England, South Africa, and the island of Mauritius. I also enjoy reading, gardening,, and sewing.

Unfortunately, in 2018 the company I worked for closed their office, and at the age of 69, I was out of a job! But, thanks to my wonderful Sons, after retirement, I have lots of time to spend with them and to have a little time for myself too!

As a matter of fact, I had this idea for Adventure to Dark Island whilst living on Mauritius. At every opportunity, Mauritian families head to the beaches and often sail to the many small islands close to the main island. I enjoyed watching the young children having fun sailing their small boats in the safe lagoons, and thus came the idea for the story.

Amidst surprise, I also enjoyed writing Adventure to Dark Island… my first book!

Adventure To Dark Island Review:

“Adventure to Dark Island” is a thrilling middle-grade fantasy novel with an exciting group, and I liked it.

The characters are well written and have unique personalities. Each of them adds their own to the story making it entertaining. Dan and Will are the reckless adventurers, while Merrow is mellow, and Patience is impatient, with Mac being the wise one of the group. Honestly, Patience was hilarious, and one of my favorite characters.

Moreover, the plot is also impressive, with quite a few thrilling incidents. Dark Island is very eerie with the mysterious mist, muffled cries, and spooky swamps. It was fun to see how Will and Dan try to survive on the Island. The author also wrote the history of the Island in a gripping manner.

However, the ending felt rushed. It seems the author resolved all the issues quickly. Moreover, there are some open-ended questions without details. For instance, how is the Wonder Juice made? How did the Sea spirit become friends with the group? It would have been nice if there was some background about how they all came to live on the Island. We got to know the history of Dark Island, but not much about Coco Island.

Apart from that, this was a fun read! I can see the potential for this to become a long-running series, and I hope the author continues to release more books on this group. Overall, “Adventure to Dark Island” is a quick but fun read that would immerse middle graders in its world. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, which I received from the author.
