Seeking women ages 18-32 to participate in a study on ethics and morality. Generous compensation. Anonymity guaranteed.
When Jessica Farris signs up for a psychology study conducted by the mysterious Dr Shields, she thinks all she’ll have to do is answer a few questions, collect her money and leave. But the questions grow more and more intense and invasive. Also, the sessions become outings where Jess gets instructions as what to wear and how to act. Now she begins to feel as though Dr Shields may know what she’s thinking…and what she’s hiding. As Jess’ paranoia grows, it becomes clear that she can no longer trust what is real in her life and what is one of Dr Shields’ manipulative experiments. Caught in a web of deceit and jealousy, Jess quickly learns that some obsessions can be deadly.

An Anonymous Girl Review:
Wow! I could not put this book down. I got hooked on the storyline right from the beginning when Jessica participates in the morality test. You know there is something off right in the front. As Jessica continues to involve herself in the study, you wonder just who exactly Dr. Sheilds is and what she has in store for Jessica.
The author does a beautiful job in narrating the story from two perspectives; Jessica and Dr. Shields. You see how dependant Jessica becomes on Dr. Shields, looks at her with high regard, and wants her approval. At the same time, Dr. Shields becomes obsessed with her new subject. One of the scenes that creeped me out was when Dr. Shields sends Jessica out to flirt with some random guy.
The author wrote all the characters so dynamically. I liked Jessica in the lead and thought she was gripping. You slowly start to see how her emotions change from admiration to anger and fear as she realizes what is happening. For me, I was not able to put the book down once Thomas came into the picture. On a side note, I also adored Jessica’s family, including Becky.
What’s interesting about this tale is that, unlike other suspense thrillers, there is no shocking twist in the end. You get to know what is happening pretty early on. While I usually prefer the book to shock me in the climax, I still enjoyed reading this because the rest of the book is more of a cat and mouse game of who will win. However, there is still a surprise that I did not expect, which gave the story a nice touch.
Overall, “An Anonymous Girl ” is a terrific psychological mystery thriller that will not disappoint you!
