Jim Panzee, our favorite #1 New York Times bestselling grumpy monkey, is feeling like quite the Scrooge this holiday season!

It’s Christmas time in the jungle, and Jim just can’t get into the holiday spirit. Then Norman offers Jim a festive green banana and Jim feels sick, making everything seem worse. All the other animals in the jungle are ready and eagerly awaiting Christmas, but Jim feels everything stinks. Norman tries to find the solution…and shows Jim that everything can be solved with a soothing cup of tea and time spent with a good friend.

Grumpy Monkey Oh, No! Christmas Review:

“Grumpy Monkey Oh, No! Christmas” is the latest installment in the series, and while I have not read any of the Grumpy Monkey books, I adored this picture book!

Let me start by mentioning how creative the author made the storyline. From the catchy names like “Jim Panzee” to a Christmas-themed story set in the rainy jungle with no Christmas colors, “Oh, No! Christmas” certainly stood out for me and made it memorable. The plot beautifully highlights how if we changed our perspective of our surroundings and became thankful for the positive things, our life would fill with joy.

I know few people in my life, just like Jim, the Grumpy Monkey. The author portrayed all the characters charmingly, and I paused to admire each of them. I love the Oxpecker’s fondness for Christmas, Marabou’s love for singing, and sweet Norman. Even Jim was hilarious as the grouchy monkey who is pessimistic about everything.

The illustrations are also adorable and quirky and immediately make you smile. I loved the expressions of Jim, Norman, and the rest of the characters. Even the illustrations are so creative, like when the animals use leaves to wrap up the Christmas presents. This picture book is one that the kids would surely enjoy for the beautiful illustrations. Even the adults would resonate and self-reflect to be thankful for the positive things in their life, no matter what challenges they are facing.

Overall, “Oh, No! Christmas” is a lovely addition to the “Grumpy Monkey” series. I hope to pick up more books in the series and revisit Jim and the other colorful cast.

It’s Christmastime in the pocket-sized village of Briarcliff Manor. With yuletide spirits flying high, life seems close to perfect in this quaint suburb of Manhattan.

But not everyone feels the holiday cheer. While most go about their joyful holiday pursuits, young Charlie Riverton is restless. Compassionate by nature, he’s especially mindful of the lonely and forlorn.

At the same time, he’s the unofficial leader of a close-knit group of sixth-grade buddies. Together they grapple with pre-teen hijinks, newfound freedoms and an emerging, nerve-wracking interest in girls.

Meanwhile, there’s a curiously gifted newcomer in town. Charlie develops a special friendship with the handsome stranger and together, they set out to craft a God-honoring Christmas gift for the whole community. Along the way, lives are changed, and people begin to look at Christmas a little differently.

Come spend the holidays in Briarcliff with this feel-good, coming of age story set in small-town America in the early 1970s.

    About the Author:

Tom Leihbacher has lived in Briarcliff Manor, New York for most of his life. After graduating from Briarcliff High School and then the University of Florida, he returned home and began a career in the media and advertising sales business. He and his family live in the Tree Streets and enjoy a rich life filled with church and community involvements and great friendships. He listens to Dr. Cook’s Walk with the King broadcast each morning before boarding a Manhattan-bound commuter train at Scarborough Station; passes through Law Park and the Pine Forest frequently; enjoys membership at Sleepy Hollow Country Club; stops for sunsets over the Hudson River and once in a while can be found skating at one of the frozen ponds in town.

After 35+ years in the corporate world, “A Gift Most Rare” is his first novel. A summer sequel will be ready soon. Please visit my author website to learn more.

    A Gift Most Rare  Review:

Some books touch your heart as soon as you start reading them, and this is how I felt when I picked up “A Gift Most Rare.”

This book gave me Hallmark movie vibes (and I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a movie adaptation of the same). The author tells the story and depicts the characters with such innocence, warmth, and compassion that it just lifted my spirits. The author describes the story beautifully, touching you and making you feel good, with a sweet tale from the 1970s.

Another reason to enjoy the tale is how the author highlights the importance of community and how we all need to support each other. While Charlie is the central character, the author gives equal importance to the rest of the cast. I also enjoyed the side characters like Suzie and her scenes with Mr. Olson. Similarly, I also enjoyed Parker and found his storyline interesting. Reading this book made me want to be a part of Briarcliff Manor as well.

Charlie is excellent in the lead as he tries to uplift and help others. Similarly, Skylar (Sky) is intriguing as the mysterious character enters their lives and sparks Charlie’s friendship. The author also adds a level of mystery and magic, like when Charlie hears voices at night and references feathers and feather dusters.

Moreover, this book provides the perfect segue for you to get in the Christmas mood. From the tree decorations to the annual tree lighting ceremony, I loved how the author incorporated the magic of Christmas into the storyline.

Overall, I loved everything about “A Gift Most Rare,” and I thank the author for writing such a sweet, simple, yet super novel.

    One Kiss Before Christmas Review:

“One Kiss Before Christmas” is one of those books that makes you look forward to Christmas and also warms your heart with its wonderful romance.

The author has a beautiful knack for romance, and the chemistry between the two characters stands out in the story. Ashleigh is charming, and I thought the author wrote her nicely. It was adorable to see how she interacted with Olivier even though her Nan mistreats her. As the story continues, you see her conflicting feeling for Olivier and the risk she takes even though she knows how her Nan will react. Similarly, even Olivier is dynamic in the role as he tries to find magic in his life again. Olivier goes through a lot of emotions and wonders what the right decision to take is. I liked the scenes that he shares with his friend Bertrand. Even the supporting characters like Romesh and James were adorable.

The author writes the chemistry between Ashleigh and Olivier beautifully. Some of the scenes that stood out for me were when Ashleigh inquires him about his love for cooking or when she helps him out in the chocolate shop display. It was adorable seeing them getting ready for their date and spending time with each other. I also enjoyed the backstory between Ashleigh and Olivier as he remembers wanting to kiss her even early on. Moreover, the author also mentions classic Christmas references like Bing Crosby, the Andrew Sisters, and movie references like Elvis films and “it’s a wonderful life” that gears you for the Christmas mood.

Overall, “One Kiss Before Christmas” is a lovely story that makes you optimistic about romance and also makes you look forward to the Winter Season.

    Christmas Cookie Cozies Review:

I love cozy mysteries, Christmas, and anthologies! Put them all together, and voila, you get “Christmas Cookie Cozies”!

Firstly, I must say that I loved the concept and idea behind the book. This year has been mediocre at best, but we don’t have to end it with a sour note. The authors have compiled this adorable collection of short stories for readers to sit on.

While I loved all the stories, my favorites were “Holly Jolly Misdeeds,” “Caramelized Casualty,” and “Christmas Cookie Caper.” Moreover, none of the stories felt repetitive, which made this quite an eclectic selection! Also, each author brought their unique storytelling style, which made each of them stand out. For instance, “Cookies and Crime” had a darker note involving a murder mystery, which stood apart from the others. Similarly, “How the Cookie Crumbles” had a cheerful, festive vibe to it, which ended the book by making me feel all Christmassy.

Overall, “Christmas Cookie Cozies” is just one of those books that you want to read if you want a festival story with a touch of mystery to it. I voluntarily reviewed a gushing copy of this book, which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Wrapped Up in Christmas Joy Review:

Like Sarah and Bodie in the first book, “Wrapped Up in Christmas,” the author focuses on Sophie and Cole in this one. I liked Cole more than Bodie because he was challenging to open up to Sophie. My heart went out to Sophie whenever Cole was harsh at her or pushed her away.

There are so many scenes that make this story memorable. I loved the parts where Sophie gets stuck in the tree to rescue the cat and calls Cole to come and save her. Additionally, the author also creates magical moments when they go sledding together in Thrill hill or first meet at the Threaded Needle to help with the preparations. Other moments include playing the word game with their friends and how they get to know each other in Lou’s chili.

Moreover, Like the previous book, the author also gives the book a sense of community. I loved seeing Sarah and Bodie’s wedding and Rosie and Lou’s side storyline. Moreover, Isabelle and Andrew made beautiful supporting characters as they support Sophie and Cole to be together.

Also, the book brings out the joy of Christmas! I feel like I am in the Christmas mood after reading the story. I wish I stayed in a place like Pine Hill to work on projects like “make your own Stocking” and have the Butterfly made a snowflake.

Overall, I thought both the books in this series were excellent! I recommend reading it if you want a cute Hallmark themed Christmas Romance. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Bodie Lewis is also lost. All he wanted was his career as an Army Ranger, but he was injured in an explosion that killed his brothers in arms. While in the hospital, he receives a handmade quilt. Later, he sets out on his final mission to find and thank its maker.

In fact, Bodie expected Sarah to be an elderly lady, not a lovely young woman. She also mistakes him for a handyman. However, he doesn’t immediately tell her the truth. Instead, he starts repairing the home, which she’s turning into bed and breakfast. Obviously, Sarah’s presence and the small town’s spirit bring Bodie the hopes he thought he’d left far behind on the battlefield.

This heartwarming sweet romance includes a free quilt pattern from the Quilts of Valor Foundation and a new original Hallmark recipe for Cinnamon Swirl Bread.

    Wrapped Up in Christmas Review:

“Wrapped Up In Christmas” was a sweet and charming Christmas story and was like watching a Hallmark Holiday movie.

The main thing I loved about the story is how wonderfully the author brought forward the Christmas spirit. The author throws so many ideas for the festival, like the snowflakes, sleigh rides, candy canes, and much more. Reading about these made me fall in love with the holiday and put me right in the Christmas mood. I also love the idea of the Christmas Ornament Hunt and the Present Pick.

Moreover, The author wrote the characters beautifully. I loved Sarah and Bodie as a couple. The story is simple but stands out nicely because of these two. The chemistry between them is sweet, and the special moments they share will warm your heart. I loved the scenes where they go to Harvey Farms and get caught by Sarah’s friends. Other memorable scenes include them decorating the tree and participating in the festivities on Festival Day. Even the supporting characters like Maybelle, Rosie, Ruby, Claudia, and Lukas add nicely to the plot.

However, I did not give it five stars because the story felt lengthy at times. While I did not have any problem with this, at times, I wished there was something (or someone) to spice up the story. Even after finishing the book, I didn’t feel like Bodie’s justifications for keeping his past a secret from Sarah was necessary.

Apart from that, this was a beautiful Christmas Story and wonderful to read for the Holiday season.  I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

    A Home for Christmas Review:

This book put me in the Christmas mood and made me feel warm and content.

Christmas Mountain – A heartwarming tale about mourning the loss of a loved one and building hope. Sarah was just adorable, and Katherine brought a feeling of mystery into the storyline. I also loved this tale because the author did not unnecessarily form a romantic bond between August and Katherine. Honestly, the story just had an adorable, feel-good vibe to it. Also, I enjoyed the storyline with Teddy and Ollie. This story was my favorite in the collection.

Teton Christmas – Another lovely story. McKensie captured my heart as soon as the tale started. I could feel for her loss as she tried to spread the first Christmas without her loved ones. She has lovely chemistry with Brandon, and I liked the scenes where they go Tree Hunting. Aunt Caitlyn and Madison also added nicely to the plot.

Lily’s Christmas Wish – Another sweet and rather unorthodox tale as a teacher and an orphan finds solace when they live with a stranger. This one sparked my interest because it was a unique storyline. Moreover, it had a Dickensian feel to it because of its theme. I loved Lily in the story and thought she was cute. Liam’s intentions are also fair, and I liked how he helped Lily and Rebecca.

All three historical, western, short stories made me feel like I was watching a Christmas special of “Little House on the Prairie,” and I loved it! The author also adds a few delicious Christmas recipes in the end. Overall, I thought this was a wonderful collection of Christmas stories to get you in the holiday spirit!

    A Real Royal Christmess Review:

A radiant romance mixed with royalty makes “A Real Royal Christmess” fun and enjoyable!

The main thing I loved about the story is the pacing and the chemistry between the two characters. As Jess and Jamie spend more time together, they start to realize each other’s flaws and charm. One of my favorite scenes in the story was when they go fishing, and Jess opens up to Jamie about her fears.

More than Jess, I loved Jamie’s character. The author wrote him wonderfully. You feel his dilemma through the story as he struggles between following his responsibility vs. his dreams and aspirations. The story was very memorable because of his character. I also liked Jess a lot but felt she was a bit immature for aspiring to be Colin after treating her shabbily. While I enjoyed her charming sense of humor and innocence, I wish she had taken the trip for moving on instead of winning Colin back.

Moreover, the supporting characters are also nicely placed, but I wished we had seen more of them. Phill and Molly are cute together. I wish they had also been prominent in the tale because I loved Molly’s character. Similarly, I wish we had seen more of Colin and Arabella to spice up the story. While I loved the focus on Jess and Jamie, it was a tad formulaic. It would have been nice to see some of the other front burner characters just for a few minutes.

Overall, this was a cute modern-age, fairy tale romance which I enjoyed.

In the Nick of Time Review:

In the Nick of Time was a heartwarming children’s story that drew me in from the first page.

The author very nicely shows the true meaning of Christmas and how we have to think about others and be grateful for what we have. It’s very accurate what the author mentioned that they do not teach or talk about these topics in school. Moreover, it’s vital to be thankful for what you have from a young age because that impacts the kind of person you grow up to be. Hence, I admire the author for taking the initiative to write a children’s book on this topic.

Similarly, the author describes the characters nicely, and I liked the mother’s personality. Nick is a fun character and realizes what it means to help others. The illustrations by Charlene Mosley are charming and adorable. They have somewhat of a rustic touch but are colorful and vibrant. On a side note, I also loved the small touches the author adds by Nick giving hot cocoa to the mail carrier.

However, I wish the story had been just a tad bit longer. I would have loved to see more interactions with Nick and Cooper, spending time together. We do not get to see Cooper’s reaction after what happens to them in the end.

Apart from that, I enjoyed this tale and thought the author nicely wrote it. Overall, I believe this is a beautiful Christmas book to gift a young one and know the entire family can enjoy it.

What if you could go back in time and fix the biggest mistake of your life?

Two years ago, Maisie’s best friend walked out of her life and she hasn’t heard from him since. When she wakes up in 1994, she naturally assumes she’s dreaming. But when she finds herself in the past again the next night and her actions in the dream alter her present-day life, she begins to wonder if she’s somehow hopping back in time. And if she is time-traveling, can she save her friendship with Jonas?

When someone commands Maisie to relive Christmases of the past, will she face up to her mistakes, or make them all over again?

To sum up, The 12 Christmases of You & Me is a magical tale of friendship, first loves, and learning to live in the present.

    About the Author:

Jennifer Joyce is a writer of romantic comedies. She’s been scribbling down bits of stories for as long as she can remember, graduating from a pen to a typewriter and then an electronic typewriter. And she felt like the bee’s knees typing on THAT. She now writes her books on a laptop (which has a proper delete button and everything).

Jennifer lives in Manchester with her husband and their two daughters. Her novels A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO SALAD, EVERYTHING CHANGES BUT YOU, THE MINCE PIE MIX-UP, THE WEDDING DATE, THE LITTLE TEASHOP OF BROKEN HEARTS  are published now. Also,  THE LITTLE BED & BREAKFAST BY THE SEA are out now.

The 12 Christmases of You & Me Review:

Time travel, tinsel, and trouble, oh my!
Maisie doesn’t know what’s happening in her life,
One minute she’s preparing for Lily’s wedding,
But when she dreams, she’s time-traveling.

The 12 Christmases of You & Me was a fun story! The author takes time-travel to a whole new level in this romantic comedy, and it is so entertaining! Moreover, the author paces the story in such a manner where you cannot predict how it will turn out. How far will Maisie go to use her dreams and save her friendship with Jonas?

Jonas and Maisie have great chemistry. Moreover, even the supporting cast like Lily, Aaron, Annabelle, Becca, Tiffany (and many others) add nicely to the plot. On a side note, as a 90s kid, I LOVED the 90s pop culture references. From Friends to Four Weddings and a Funeral, this book was like a splash of everything 90s.

Also, the story gets intense once Maisie goes back to her past recurringly without her control. She doesn’t know how she can come out of it and wakes up and realizes she is still in the past at times. Some of the scenes are hilarious as Maisie knows what will happen, like her comeback with Mr. Stewart. One of my favorite moments was when Maisie kisses Jonas but has conflicting feelings about what would happen to Annabelle. I only wish there was some reason as to why Maisie starts experiencing this suddenly.

Overall, if you love time travel tales, or movies like “13 going on 30“, or a romantic version of the Butterfly Effect (like how the author mentions), then you will love this story.
