A sassy nineteen year old with an eye for cloned fashion and an ear for the latest gossip. She reveals all in a series of emails written to her friend, Emma.

Tracy doesn’t spare anyone’s blushes as she dishes the dirt on friends, family, and foes. If something is worth hearing, it is worth telling. Everyone gets the Tracy Treatment, her benefit-fiddling father, her porn obsessed boyfriend, even her pocket billiards champion boss. Not forgetting the office’s serial bum pincher and his latest conquest, the office tart.

Behind Tracy’s wide eyed innocence and reassuring smile lies a muck spreader of the highest calibre.

    No secret is safe.

    Tracy’s Hot Mail Review:

“Tracy’s Hot Mail” is a delightful read because of the main character and her quirky experiences in the office.

I liked the epistolary style in which the author tells the story, as we discover what Tracy goes through with her letters to Emma. Tracy seems like someone I could easily befriend, and I loved her snarky sense of humor.

Even the supporting characters are fun. I enjoyed reading about Olivia’s turbulent office affair with Mr. Blunt and Tracy’s run-ins with Martine and found myself laughing out loud when Tracy gets Kiwi as her new roommate. The author has a beautiful style for writing comedy, and reading this book lightened my mood.

Moreover, some exciting moments stand out, like what Tracy experiences with the trick-or-treaters at Halloween or the shenanigans at the Christmas party. The story never feels dull because even if there are chapters where nothing much happens, I still enjoy reading about what Tracy went through.

Perhaps the only criticism I have of the story is the book took a good two to three chapters for me to get the hang of what’s happening. The author introduces all the characters at once, and I had to recollect who was what. From the first page, we jump into Tracy’s life, where she interacts with all her colleagues, friends, and family, and I wondered what was happening.

However, I thoroughly enjoyed the plot once I got used to it. Overall, “Tracy’s Hot Mail” is a fun, exciting start to the series, and I would love to see how it continues.

    Royal Wedding in Vegas Review:

I have not read any of the previous books in the “Royally Funny” series, but “Royal Wedding in Vegas” was hilarious, and I found myself laughing a lot. You can easily enjoy this book as a standalone, but I wish I had read the previous books as well after reading it.

To begin with, I must mention that it’s so refreshing to read a book of this genre from a male perspective that doesn’t market itself as a romantic comedy. The story is just pure comedy where the characters find themself in far-fetched scenarios, and it still turned out to be a feel-good story.

I loved George and thought he was the highlight of the book! George is hilarious in the lead as he finds himself in crazy situations and deals with Minty’s engagement to Lennon. While the story started a bit slow, I thought it went full swing once they entered Vegas. The pacing also speeds up as the story progresses, and you cannot put it down. Some memorable moments in the tale were when George gets dragged from the auditorium, searches for the disappearing groom, and steps into superhero costume to pursue the joker. As the story progresses, you also meet the other characters like the Duke and Portia, who I felt were memorable.

The author also brings Las Vegas to life, from gamblings in casinos to the eruption of fake volcanos. I have never been to Vegas, but the author details the background so humorously that I feel like I want to go there and experience it myself.

Overall, “Royal Wedding in Vegas” is a delightfully funny tale. It encouraged me to pick up the previous two books and read more of their adventures.

Isla Moore debuts a delicious small-town series about taking risks, second chances, and trusting your heart to lead the way.

The rule was they couldn’t fall in love.

But rules are made to be broken.

Empty-nester Alison English is ready to sell her too-large house and start the second part of her life. The only way that’s possible is to dust off her past author skills and accept the offer– and the unseemly amount of money –to ghost write a sizzling scorcher of a romance book. One problem: widowed for ten years, forty-something Alison isn’t sure she even remembers how to flirt, much less sizzle or scorch… Everything still goes in the same places though, right? All she needs is practice. And she knows just who to ask for help.

Will Fournier is thirty-one going on fifty. Single parenting a special-needs six-year-old and running a construction business doesn’t leave much time for socializing. Dating is out. He won’t risk someone breaking his daughter’s heart when the relationship inevitably falls apart. What he needs is an arrangement with a woman isn’t looking to get married or even go out on the town. A woman who will settle for convenient, no strings attached sex. In a perfect world, this fantasy woman would look like Alison, whose kitchen he’s been tearing apart. But someone as sexy and classy as her wouldn’t be interested in friends with benefits.

Even with strict rules set in place, spending everyday together brings Will and Alison much closer than in just the bedroom. And when emotions get involved, who will be the first to fall?

    About the Author:

Isla Moore lives on a mini-farm in the swampy South where she wrangles dogs, kids, a spouse, and the occasional herd of deer or swarm of mosquitoes.

She writes small-town Southern romances – a little sweet, a lot sexy, and always spiked with a bit of humor, just like her favorite bourbon sweet tea. .

    The Jennifer Files Review:

If you want to read a romance with heartwarming characters that also stands out in the genre, “The Jennifer Files” is your book!

Firstly, let me say that I loved the way the author wrote the characters. It is so refreshing to see a steamy romance novel with middle-aged leads who are single parents. That in itself makes the story feel realistic and makes you root for the characters. Both Alison find themselves unable to have romance in their lives because of their age and family obligations. I loved how the two of them came together and their agreement to have a purely physical relationship without romance in the cards.

Secondly, I also the concept of the story, where Alison writes a book and needs inspiration, and we get a life imitates art situation. The author writes Alison nicely, where you get a sense that her characters are sometimes taking over her life because of how mundane her days are at times.

Moreover, the author also made me laugh so much in some scenes. For instance, I chucked when Will takes Alison on a house tour or when Sam hears about Alison and Will. The book heats up with steamy romance, makes you leave, and makes you fall in love with the characters at the same time! On a side note, I also appreciate how the author made the family members prominent, and you feel like the children play an equally important role in the tale. I adored Sam’s conversations with Alison.

Overall, “The Jennifer Files” is an excellent start to “The Jennifer Files,” and I look forward to seeing these characters again!

Gordon Korman meets The Great Outdoors in this funny and moving debut about a boy who goes on a disastrous family vacation (sweltering heat! bear chases!) that ends with a terrible surprise: his dad’s new girlfriend.

There are zero reasons for Theo Ripley to look forward to his family vacation. Not only are he, sister Laura, and nature-obsessed Dad going to Big Bend, the least popular National Park, but once there, the family will be camping. And Theo is an indoor animal. It doesn’t help that this will be the first vacation they’re taking since Mom passed away.

Once there, the family contends with 110 degree days, wild bears, and an annoying amateur ornithologist and his awful teenage vlogger son. Then, Theo’s dad hits him with a whopper of a surprise: the whole trip is just a trick to introduce his secret new girlfriend.

Theo tries to squash down the pain in his chest. But when it becomes clear that this is an auditioning-to-be-his-stepmom girlfriend, Theo must find a way to face his grief and talk to his dad before his family is forever changed.

    About the Author:

Cliff Burke grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. He worked as a house painter, a parking lot attendant, and a sign-twirling dancing banana before graduating from the College of William and Mary. For the past ten years, he has taught reading and writing in China, Hong Kong, and Texas.

Currently, he teaches writing and humanities at a middle school in the San Francisco Bay Area. An Occasionally Happy Family is his first novel.

    An Occasionally Happy Family Review:

“An Occasionally Happy Family” turned out to be a very entertaining middle-grade realistic fiction, and I loved reading it!

Firstly, kudos to the author for writing such a fun debut novel. What stood out in the tale was how the author balances humor with the emotional aspect. Theo, our main character, doesn’t have the best time, as he goes on a trip with his family to Big Bend National Park. Theo encounters various zany situations that made me chuckle as to what would happen next. However, the second half of the tale also gets emotional, and you see a different side to Theo that makes you emphasize with him.

Secondly, the author also takes the plot in such a unique manner. Theo encounters a birdwatcher and his son, gets close to a bear attack, and meets a hilarious nudist French Couple named Sylvie and Bernard. As though this is not enough, his dad also surprises him to meet his new girlfriend, Lucrecia. The story surprises you in that you don’t know what will happen next.

Thirdly, I adored Theo. The author wrote his feelings so accurately that I felt I might have reacted the same way if I were in his shoes. The author also describes his sense of missing his mom and adjusting to the changes nicely. Moreover, the author also describes the beauty and the harshness of nature as the story progresses. Theo also has to bear the small tents to lousy air conditioning in the lodge in scorching weather. On a side note, I also liked the conversations he had with his friend Angel P. about the situation.

Overall, “An Occasionally Happy Family” is a lovely middle-grade novel that will make you laugh and entertain you.

The most uplifting book you’ll read this year!

It has been a long and lonely year for neighbours Vivienne, Mary and Gwen. All ladies of a ‘certain age’, their lockdown experience has left them feeling isolated and alone. They are in desperate need of a change.

Things start to look up however, when Gwen comes up with a plan to get them out of London by borrowing a motor home. In no time at all the ladies are on the road . They are away from the city, away from their own four walls, and away from their worries.

The British countryside has never looked more beautiful. As they travel from Stonehenge to Dartmoor, from the Devon and Cornish coasts to the Yorkshire moors, gradually the years fall back, and the three friends start to imagine new futures with no limitations.

And as their journey continues and their friendships deepen, and while the seaside views turn into glorious mountains and moors, Mary, Vivienne and Gwen learn to smile again, to laugh again, and maybe even to love again. Now they can believe that the best is still to come…

Funny, joyful and with a spring in its step that reminds you to live every day like it’s your last. Judy Leigh has once again written the perfect feel-good novel for all fans of Dawn French and Cathy Hopkins.

    About the Author:

I write uplifting novels about living life and loving it, with many of my characters being in their golden years. My stand-alone stories take place in a variety of inspirational and colourful settings, from a typical Somerset village to lively Paris, to a beautiful Mexican coastal resort.

The central characters are older people who are full of fun and mischief, who have adventures, find love, lose love, make wonderful friends and discover the true meaning of happiness. There is much laughter, sometimes a few tears along the way, but always there will be the joy of celebrating each moment in life and living it to the full.

My novels offer readers many smiles and the chance to make new friends between the pages. I hope you enjoy sifting through the titles and synopses.

    The Golden Girls’ Getaway Review:

“The Golden Girls’ Getaway” is one of those stories that touches your heart and makes you wish that you had a close-knit of friends, like the three charming ladies.

Firstly, I loved the theme of the story. Do you ever wish you could go on a trip with your close friends when you are old and live life without any stress or responsibilities? The author also wrote the story so humorous that I found myself chucking at a few scenes, especially between Gwen and Vicente de Lorenzo. The scene where he makes a fool of himself and shocks Gwen, or when she tries to drive the motorhome, had me rolling. Similarly, Mary faces health challenges, and Vivienne doesn’t like how people perceive her as old since she is an actress. Each of them goes through their struggles but beautifully fits together and supports each other. Even though the book leaned more towards Gwen, I loved Vivienne.

Another beautiful aspect of the tale is how the three always support each other and boost their spirits. Each character realizes that they still have the spark in them, as Gwen plays darts with Marc, or Vivienne feels young again. One of my favorite moments revolved around the singing competition with Elinor, and I thought the author made the story so heartwarming. On a side note, I also liked Berry and Orlando in the side roles.

Moreover, I loved how the author indirectly gave us a tour of Stonehenge and Exmoor. Frankly, after reading about the beauty of Exmoor, I want to visit it someday. Similarly, the author also makes the story relevant to the current pandemic, where our main characters wear masks. Overall, “The Golden Girls’ Getaway” will make you smile all over.

Only My Dog Knows I Pick My Nose Review:

What an adorable picture book “Only My Dog Knows I Pick My Nose” was. It is a beautiful book that shows the relationship between a boy and his dog.

Firstly, I must say I enjoy how the team came up with the title. It sounds pretty gross, but something that would appeal to small children and find it funny. However, even though the title would make you think that it is a book about nose picking and boogers, it isn’t. It’s just one page in the entire story. Instead, the creators came up with a beautiful tale about how the main character and his dog share a strong bond. We all yearn to have that one person that we can be ourselves without behaving so that people expect us to adhere. In this book, the boy has that with his dog. He can be his true self with the dog because the dog will always support and protect him no matter what.

Moreover, the illustrations by Lisa Bronson Mezoff are adorable. It’s simple illustrations, but it conveys the message beautifully. The illustrator focuses mainly on blues and greens, and I adored the artist’s expressions on the characters. Some of my favorite pictures were where the boy sings holding the toothbrush or when he goes on imaginary adventures with his companion. The book beautifully conveys the message that you can always be yourself when you are in the company of loved ones.

Overall, “Only My Dog Knows I Pick My Nose” is a nicely executed picture book that will surely appeal to the target readers.

Blah, Blah, Blah: A Snarky Guide to Office Lingo Review:

“Blah, Blah, Blah” is a delicious dictionary of diabolical definitions that had me laughing at the different office vocabulary, and I enjoyed reading it!

As someone who has a day job in the corporate world, I could relate to so many of these aspects and thought the author captured the essence of the work culture jargons nicely. From the beginning, I found myself chucking in many pages, like how the author explains what a job interview is or knowledge transfer. There were moments when I was laughing out loud, like how the author defines Digital Transformation and TikTok or looking at the big picture. There are also some terms that I never heard of, like “Facipulate” and “Bropropriation,” which were interesting and humorous.

I loved the way the author composed the book. He does not shy away from telling the truth and how there could be hidden meaning behind the terms. When people talk about cost-cutting or automation, there are always warning signs to look out for in our company. The author also makes the book stand out with eye-catching clipart and fonts that will hold your interest. The author covers terms from many teams and aspects, from employee work culture to accounting, legal, and marketing.

However, only those who have worked in a corporate job could appreciate this book to the fullest. I don’t think a person who has not experienced working in such an environment would appreciate how snarky and entertaining it is. Nevertheless, this is a fun book to pick up and show to your office colleagues if you ever want to bond with them.

Overall, I enjoyed reading “BLAH, BLAH, BLAH: A Snarky Guide to Office Lingo” and found it very creative.

In The Market Square, the fantastical setting for all his dream activities, Wilson Armitage is able to take night classes on any subject and absorb a wealth of knowledge from just a few hours of sleep.  As though logging into a wifi of dreams to download information.  As his childhood passes, both wary of and reticent to acknowledge his extraordinary ability, Wilson attempts to lead a normal life and stay beneath the radar of family and friends.

At the age of seventeen however, Daisy Meadowcroft blows his cover.  During a chance encounter in The Market Square, they agree to meet the next day and propel from a dream world into the reality of a coffee shop in the centre of Manchester.  Enthralled by their shared gift, they strike up a close friendship and encourage each other to seek a rational, scientific explanation for their unique talents.

    About the Author:

For twenty years Steve Walsh honed his skills in prose as an advertising copywriter; the ‘ideas’ man in a Manchester based marketing agency that carried his name.

In the late 1990’s he stumbled into the world of the dotcom entrepreneur and his claim to fame is as the creator of the hotel booking service, laterooms.com and the first car insurance comparison site, easycover.com.

He now uses his vivid imagination and gentle Mancunian wit to write visionary fantasy novels with bold concepts. Wilson indeed, the first book in his trilogy The WiFi of Dreams takes the reader on a richly imagined, fact meets fiction adventure story to which we can relate and feel we can touch. A whimsical interrogation of the inexplicable and fundamental tenets of our lives – the role and meaning of dreams, the nature of the hereafter, hard and soft science, a love story – what more can you want?

Butterfly Assassins, the second book in the trilogy, is   due in Summer 2021. Steve Welsh’s birth and growth was from north west of England. Also, he has three children and likes to fly fish in his spare time.

    Wilson indeed! Review:

“Wilson indeed” is a unique story, unlike anything I had read before, and I enjoyed it a lot!

Firstly, I would like to commend the author for coming up with such a creative tale. From the beginning, you are fascinated by Wilson, who appears to be a prodigy of some sort. He learns fluent French instantly and can paint a masterpiece, to name a few, just in school. You immediately get a sense that Wilson will do something great and profound in the story.

It is also interesting how the author portrayed Wilson’s inner conflicts and wanted to be a normal kid. Moreover, I also adored Wilson’s parents Alex and Gloria, because of their support towards him. Although they found him different from other children, they never demotivated him or told him to act differently.

The author takes the story in a creative, imaginative manner, where we see Wilson finding out more about the Morphic Fields. I loved the idea of meeting someone in your dreams and communicating with them using that state as a channel. The author also nicely adds in some humor, and I found myself chuckling when Wilson meets Big Mac and Shortcake. The second half of the story had me utterly engrossed as Wilson and Daisy search for Vanessa. On a side note, I also enjoyed the scenes between Daisy and Wilson as they go on the Ferris wheel and learn more about the Market Square. The author also ends the story in a bitter-sweet manner that makes you look forward to the second book.

Overall, “Wilson indeed” is a fascinating story of friendship, love, and loss, and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

When Gregory Hoffenbach unearths a valuable stone while ploughing, he believes it could put an end to all his woes.

It doesn’t. In fact it’s just the beginning.

Greg heads into the city of Calver with his brother Ralph to try and sell the stone but soon they discover that there are plenty of people in the Kingdom who’d like to own Greg’s red stone.

Over the next few days, the brothers strike a deal with a prominent crime boss, stumble into a plot to overthrow the King and have a hand in the death of an over-ambitious hay salesman.

Fortunately for them, they’ve got help. Some very useful and very violent help.

It seems everyone wants Greg’s stone and they’ll stop at nothing to get it.
Greg? He just wants a new plough.

A story about working out what’s valuable in life and then trying to take it from someone else

    About the Author:

Tim Beeden is someone who likes to make things up. Things like stories, ideas and friends. He’s lived a varied life, has had thirteen different jobs, likes piña coladas and getting caught in the rain. He loves to travel and is utterly convinced he’s part Viking (much to his wife’s continual annoyance. Although he was once on holiday in Denmark where the locals often spoke to him in Danish which pretty much confirmed it as far as he’s concerned).

He’s married with one child. His wife is nothing like him (thank goodness) but his son is (thank goodness).

Greed is his first novel in a planned series of eleven books but he’s pretty new to this so isn’t aware of how ridiculous an ambition that is.

He genuinely hopes you enjoy reading Greed and that if you love it you tell your friends. If you read it and hate it, he wants you to tell your enemies so they have to suffer too. His website is: www.sevendeadlyandfour.com and he’d love for you to stop by and say hello.

Valuable stones, war machines, and mercenaries are only some of the many exciting things you will read about in “Greed.”

This book was hard to put down! I got immersed in Greg’s world as he finds the stone and shares the information with Ralph and Molly from the get-go. The story goes full swing once Eve and Bud enter the picture and set on their quest to Calver. The author does a terrific job of making the story exciting and adventurous humorously. Some of the intense scenes are when Greg and Ralph encounter the five men with weapons or Wolf. Interestingly, some characters have their secrets, and at times you tend to doubt even the main characters, like when Greg questions Eve about Keith. There are some interesting twists that I did not expect and added well to the tale.

Even though it is a fantasy novel, the author makes the characters realistic who connect with you. While it may seem like the book carries a vast cast of characters, I did not mind because I felt most of them brought something new to the story. Greg is the level-headed one who tries to do the right thing. Ralph was probably the most infuriating yet entertaining character in the story. While I wouldn’t say I liked how he got Greg into trouble, I couldn’t help but chuckle at how they handled the predicament. Ralph brings a touch of adventure and humor into the story. Similarly, Eve was exciting with her no-nonsense attitude, and I also adored Bud and felt he added nicely to the group. Again, even the negative characters like Augustus adds nicely to the mix.

Overall, “Greed” is a lovely fantasy novel, and I hope there will be a sequel to revisit these characters.

From the author of the “Pearls Before Swine” comic strip and New York Times bestselling Timmy Failure series comes a laugh-out-loud, heartwarming, full-color graphic novel series about a quirky town—just right for young readers starting to read longer books!

Wendy the Wanderer has lived in Trubble Town her whole life but never had the chance to go exploring. For this reason, she thinks she was definitely misnamed. Her dad likes to know where she is to make sure she’s safe, so she’s never been anywhere on her own. Then, her dad leaves on a trip and the babysitter doesn’t reinforce all the usual rules. Or any of the usual rules! Suddenly, Wendy is free to do what she wants, and what she wants is to live up to her name…and find Trubble.

Turns out, there’s lots going on in Trubble Town. As she encounters endearingly goofy animals and hilariously hapless townsfolk, Wendy’s very first adventure takes more twists and turns than she could have ever expected. She learns some really valuable life lessons and even teaches a few of her own.

     Squirrel Do Bad Review:

This book was undoubtedly one of the unique graphic novels I have read. The story consists of multiple characters facing random situations which are weirdly connected. Each storyline is goofy, hilarious, and just downright silly. Hence, if you are looking for a story with a consistent plot with a strong storyline and morals, you might be disappointed. However, if you want a lighthearted tale where you don’t have to think much and enjoy the illustrations with an intricate zany plot, then this is your book. I still found it cute and quirky, as it is so different from what I usually read.

I particularly liked the tale revolving around Squirrely McSquirrel and his adventures. Some of the characters are hilarious, like the moles, whereas some were despicable, like Crotchety Craig and the Sheriff. I also like some moments the author adds about the Butterfly effect and the romance between the cat and dog. Surprisingly, moments in the story felt close to reality, like when people turn into a mob when they believe anything. The book has a lot going on, even if it seems directionless at times. Moreover, the illustrations are adorable and something that would appeal to a reader of any age group.

However, I did find it a challenge to initially pace myself with the story. Originally, when I started reading the book, I had to keep track of what was happening because many things take place. But, after a few chapters, you realize to go with the flow because a few things don’t make sense. Nevertheless, “Squirrel Do Bad” is a quirky graphic novel that’s nice to pick up if you are in the mood for something different.
