    Stuck On You Review:

This was such a cute story that got me in the mood for Christmas, New Years and Valentine’s Day!

I loved the concept of the tale, of a romantic scenario when you mix professional life with your personal romantic life. Moreover, the author brings the characters to life with her charming style of writing. She made me go through various emotions and change my perception of the characters. Initially, I disliked Damian for the harsh way in which he treats his employees. However, as the story progresses, I started to fall in love with him. Also, I loved Sadie’s interactions with Damian, as they were the highlight of the story.

My favorite moments in the were when Sadie brings Damian to her parents house for Christmas and they celebrate Five Days of Christmas with her family. Even the supporting characters like Xara, Selena, Henry and Clara add so well to the story-line. I particularly love Xara and her wonderful sense of humor.

However, my only criticism for the story is that it became predictable in the second half. I figured who Adam was beforehand and how he connected to the plot. After that, the story continues with the ‘will they or wont they’ situation. Don’t get me wrong; it was still a charming book to read till the very end. However, it would have been nice of there was something to spice it up, like putting Mackie between the two.

Apart from that, I really enjoyed this sweet tale. It is one of those stories that will definitely make you feel better and one which you will enjoy.

    Life After You Review:

This book, in one word, is just adorable! It’s heartwarming, sweet and just brightens your mood.

The author wrote the story in such a manner that you immediately fall in love with the characters. Milly is adorable in the role. My heart immediately went out to her right from the start as she tries to find stability in her life. She misses her father, has to deal with people like Jarleth, and you just want things to get better for her.

Moreover, the author wrote the supporting characters in a wonderful manner too! Catriona (love the name) was hilarious in the role. I loved her no-nonsense attitude and the way she controls everything, including her pregnancy. Similarly, Siobhan is also adorable and I really enjoyed her connecting people with their astrological star signs. Even the scenes where Milly meets her Auntie, Mom and Sarah for their catch-ups was so cute.

However, my favorite supporting character was Mrs. Murphy. I just loved the scenes where she talks to Milly about love and introduces her to Frederick. Even though she appears for a few scenes, she makes the story so memorable! The author also paints the negative characters in a delightful way. I really disliked Ryan and wanted to shake Milly to stay away from him. Moreover, Carole played the villain perfectly and I just loved to hate. The author wrote her in such a despicable manner. I was engrossed with the characters that I could not put this book down.

The author will take you on a ride and make you laugh, cry and get angry at the characters and their story-lines. Overall, this was a delightful story that talks about love, family, strength and hope and was a wonderful read!

The Rue Stone is a sweet fantasy novella you enjoy reading in the style of a traditional fairy tale.

The rue is a mysterious and rare being who is rarely seen, and Janna is amazed when one arrives at the inn where she works, looking for a room. The next morning, her life has changed, and she is left wondering whether she will ever see him again, but only time and the rue stone know the answer to that question.

    Author Bio:

Having written all of my life, I decided to self-publish my writing when I turned 50. I have published four books since then. Two are collections of short stories; Dark & Fluffy; Dark & Fluffy II and 500 Words, which is flash fiction. My latest book The Rue Stone is a fantasy novella.

My passion is medieval fiction, and I am working on my first novel The Little Servant – The Wait’s Son, set in the 12th century, in Lincoln, where I live.

All four books are available on Amazon.

    The Rue Stone Review:

The Rue Stone is a nice, fantasy romance novella and I found it interesting.

Initially when I started reading this tale, I really did not know what to expect. I wasn’t aware that this was a prequel to the author’s next book. Hence, the book was quick to read which anyone can finish in one sitting.

Janna is very interesting as the main character. I liked the dialogues she shares with the other members of the Inn. Moreover, Vune, Vem and Hera were interesting in their own way and stood out in the story. Also, Arval is wonderful as the Rue. Even though he makes special appearances, the story-line always got interesting with his presence.

The story is short and simple, but somehow it is still entertaining. Similarly, the author tells the story in a simple manner that immediately attracts the reader. More than the characters, I really liked the mystery behind the rue and its history. The author maintains an element of mystery behind the rue and the rue stone, and their unique features. Moreover, as the story is only around 110 pages, a lot happens within this novella.

However, at times, the story felt too fast. I felt this more towards the end when Aery came into the picture. There were some loose ends which we don’t get any answers for. For example, what was the reason why Hera died? What is the history behind Arval? Why did he disappear and come back to Janna? How did the Inn actually come into being? Perhaps the author will answer these questions in the following book.

Overall, this is a good setup to the series and I am interested to see how it continues.

    Hollywood Player Review:

This book turned out to be much better than what I expected, and I enjoyed reading it.

The author did a wonderful job in telling the story. The story is interesting, the pacing is nice, and the characters are charming. Moreover, the story immediately grabbed my attention right in the beginning where London is attacked by Giancarlo. There are quite a few twists and turns that you don’t expect, which makes the plot interesting till the very end.

Also, I loved London and Knox as individuals. Knox immediately stood out for me because of his unconventional relationship with Agnes. Knox and London are so cute together. I loved the scenes where he gets her to come out from her seclusion and start living her life. She in turns gives him stability and family that he never had growing up. They were both so good together!

Moreover even the supporting cast are so lovely and uplifting. Keely was a very interesting character too and I liked her dynamic with Knox. Chazz, Cassie and Sydney also added well to the plot. Moreover, I loved London’s father David, and how protective he is towards her. They share such a nice bond, and it is clear how much she means to him when he has a word with Knox. I also loved the scenes revolving around Jo’s pregnancy and delivery.

However, while I also enjoyed their romance, I really didn’t like the insta-love connection. Knox kisses London in public just when they have met, and she tells him to move in with him? I took some of their initial scenes with a pinch of salt, but then felt maybe it was the Hollywood lifestyle.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story and thought it was a very well written romance.

    A spiritualist, an insane asylum, a lost little girl . . .

When Clive, anxious to distract a depressed Henrietta, begs Sergeant Frank Davis for a case, he is assigned to investigating a seemingly boring affair: a spiritualist woman operating in an abandoned schoolhouse on the edge of town who is suspected of robbing people of their valuables. What begins as an open and shut case becomes more complicated, however, when Henrietta—much to Clive’s dismay—begins to believe the spiritualist’s strange ramblings.

Meanwhile, Elsie begs Clive and Henrietta to help her and the object of her budding love, Gunther, locate the whereabouts of one Liesel Klinkhammer, the German woman Gunther has traveled to America to find and the mother of the little girl, Anna, whom he has brought along with him. The search leads them to Dunning Asylum, where they discover some terrible truths about Liesel. When the child, Anna, is herself mistakenly admitted to the asylum after an epileptic fit, Clive and Henrietta return to Dunning to retrieve her. This time, however, Henrietta begins to suspect that something darker may be happening. When Clive doesn’t believe her, she decides to take matters into her own hands . . . with horrifying results.

    About the Author:

Michelle Cox is the author of the multiple award-winning Henrietta and Inspector Howard series as well as “Novel Notes of Local Lore,” a weekly blog dedicated to Chicago’s forgotten residents. Also, she suspects she may have once lived in the 1930s and, having yet to discover a handy time machine lying around, has resorted to writing about the era as a way of getting herself back there. Unbeknownst to most, Michelle hoards board games she doesn’t have time to play and is, not surprisingly, addicted to period dramas and big band music. Also marmalade.

    A Child Lost Review:

I have had so much fun reading this series, and “A Child Lost” was a very nice addition.

The first thing that stood out in the novel was the amount of research the author put into the locations. Personally, I found this to be darker and creepier compared to its predecessors, mainly due to the asylum setting. I have always found asylums to be very dark and disturbing, and the author makes the story atmospheric by implementing this. Moreover, Dunning Asylum (or Chicago State Hospital) was a real place, and made me curious to further research about its history of the patients.

Coming back to the story; once again, I loved the characters and their adventures to solve the mystery. Clive and Henrietta are wonderful as always. At times, my heart went out to them to see the troubles they face as a married couple, as they try to grow their Detective Agency. However, it is wonderful to see them come together for solving various cases, including one with a lost girl and one with a spiritualist! I also loved Elsie and her relationship with Gunther, continued from the previous book. Elsie shines on her own and I loved how the author makes her more prominent in each book.

Moreover, the author once again maintains consistency to the series, with the amazing the location settings and characters to resemble 1930s Chicago. She writes each book in such a gripping manner that you can read them all in any order, or as standalone (although I enjoyed reading the series in the chronological manner).

Overall, I thought this was the best book out of the 5, as it covers so many things like mystery, romance, mental health and spirituality.

    Summer’s End Review:

I love reading a good paranormal YA novel, and Summer’s End turned out to be really good!

The first thing that drew me was the concept between Summer and Dooney. I always love reading a story that revolves around an amnesiac, and both the characters played the part so well. Even her ‘friends’, Coral and Persia are wonderful in keeping her past a mystery. Moreover, I loved Summer and Dooney’s chemistry. Even though they don’t remember their past with each other, I enjoyed their connection. Andie turned out to be one of my favorite characters as well, and I loved her reaction when she finds out who Summer and her friends are. The author wrote the characters in such a gripping manner that you immediately like them. Moreover, I loved how the story ended, where you feel satisfied with the book as a standalone, yet the author hints at a possible sequel. The back story of Summer’s history is also amazing!

However, there were a few parts which could be better. I really enjoyed the way the story starts and ends, but the pacing was slightly slow in the middle. There are few instances where Summer and Dooney keep bumping into one another, where she has a sudden reaction. But, after a while this felt a tad repetitious. Also, there is a lot of buildup for Lennox but we only see him shortly towards the end. On a personal note, I also really liked Kit and thought she was complex, and would have liked to seen more of her dynamic with Dooney. Perhaps we will read about them in the continuation?

Apart from that, this book was so entertaining! I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the next installment.

Christmas at Lock Keeper’s Cottage  Review:

This book was like getting a warm hug from a loved one. It is just filled with hope and love surrounding the charming characters of Aysbury.

Its very rare to read a story where you fall in love with the entire cast, but that is how I felt while reading this book. All the character, whether it be Abe, Gray, Sarah, Immi, Valerie or Tollie were so endearing in their own manner. Moreover, I loved Gray and Immi and thought they were sizzling. The way he proposes to her on the snow was so cute! Similarly, Immi is a sweetheart in general, and I loved her innocence. I laughed out loud when she tries to make Christmas dinner and buys everything in excess for her family and friends. Also, The Little Start cruises concept was so adorable! The author includes various story-lines among the characters to bring something new. I was intrigued with the story-line about Valerie and her son. In short, there were just so many things to admire in the story.

However, perhaps that is why I didn’t give this book a five star review. I just loved all the characters and their tales, but there was nothing negative to balance with the positive. It would have been nice if there were someone who you loved to hate, just to give this book that extra touch. Also, the ending felt a bit rushed and odd, as we get to see Gray’s perspective. I would have liked to read more of the story from his point of view.

But, overall, this story beautifully highlights the life and gives proper meaning of a community. It is beautiful to see everyone helping out one another, and come together during the festive season.

Don’t miss the new laugh-out-loud rom com from the author of One Week ’Til Christmas! Perfect for fans of Mhairi McFarlane, Rosie Walsh and Josie Silver.

In the space of a week, Katharine Patterson has quit her job and decided to move back home. She also broke up with the guy she thought was the one.

    No big deal.

Because Katharine has a plan. She’s going to open her own art gallery, just to her liking. What she’s not going to do is worry about boyfriends.

Then she meets Kit, a handsome and talented local artist. He might be the most stubborn person Katharine has ever met. He might also make her feel like no one ever has before.

And Katharine might be about to fall accidentally in love…

    About the Author:

Author and sometimes foodie, Belinda is a ridiculous romantic who met her husband through a friend two states away.

Residing in country Victoria, surrounded by books, cat-fur, and half-eaten cake, Belinda divides her days between writing rom-coms, baking, and indulging her love of comic books.

    Accidentally in Love Review:

This was a fun, realistic, contemporary romance that made me love the characters and want to visit an art gallery.

In any contemporary romance novel, the key ingredient is the chemistry between the two characters. Kate and Kit share an amazing chemistry! Moreover, the surprising part is, when they first appear together, I did not even see them as a couple. Kit came off as pompous and conceited, and I didn’t even see the connection between him and Kate. This was a welcome change from the usual cliches you read in a romance novel. But as the story progresses, you see how nice they are together and how they work things out.

Similarly, I also loved the prominence of the supporting cast. The author doesn’t focus only on the relationship, but also spends ample time to put the supporting characters in the spotlight, which is wonderful! She did such a wonderful job with Kate’s family. I loved Adam and thought he was a perfect brother. Adam and Kate’s father, and Fiona are Kate’s cheerleaders and I enjoyed their dynamic and uplifting nature. Moreover, the author writes the character in such a realistic manner where you immediately connect to them. Kate is wonderful as the lead and I liked her quirky personality. It was a fun ride witnessing her road to starting her own gallery. Even John was interesting

Probably the only thing which I thought to be better was the pacing. I loved everything about the story but personally felt the author over-described many scenes. At times, the pacing seemed to slow down due to the same. Moreover, once I adjusted with pacing, it unexpectedly speeds towards the climax.

Otherwise, “Accidentally in Love” is just adorable, and I really enjoyed it!

Starry Skies Over The Chocolate Pot Cafe:  Review

I loved this story so much! Reading it made me want to hug my parents (more than anything), and have a hot chocolate with a loved one.

For me, the highlight was the main character. I loved Tara. It’s very rare when you can connect to a character so well. I could completely relate to her building walls around her to avoid getting hurt. The main reason why I really loved her was because she started to gain confidence and self-empowerment even before interacting with Jed. I loved the way she progressed as a person and put herself out there with the community. Similarly, Jed is also wonderful in the role. Initially when I read about him, I really didn’t like him. But like Tara, you slowly start to see his perspective and your heart melts for him. Both of them share a dynamic chemistry. Even the supporting characters like Carly, Erin, Lucy, and yes, even Hercules all complement the plot so beautifully.

The author is now one of my favorites for contemporary romance. The pacing is perfect, the characters are lovable, and the story-lines are heart-warming. Moreover, she paints the characters and writes emotions in such a beautiful manner, that you love the main characters, and hate the negative characters with a passion. Some of my favorite scenes is when Tara sees Jed’s paintings, or when we learn about Jed’s past. Speaking of negative characters, I thought Leanne and Garth were despicable.

Overall, this book is perfect in every way, and I loved everything about it. I hope the author writes many more Christmas-themed novels, and I cannot wait to read her other books!

It’s December on Castle Street; the fairy lights are twinkling, snow has settled and the festive season is in full swing.

For Carly, the owner of Carly’s Cupcakes, it’s the busiest time of year getting everyone’s Christmas treats ready on time. However with her clumsy sister, Bethany, as a co-worker, it’s proving a difficult task. They say you shouldn’t mix work with family. Maybe they have a point…

As Christmas approaches, Carly is also eagerly awaiting the return of her best friend to Whitborough Bay. Liam has no idea he’s been the object of her affection since their schooldays. After years of pining after him, can Carly pluck up the courage to finally tell him how she really feels by 25th December?

Could a little festive magic make all of Carly’s wishes come true this Christmas…?

A heartwarming, short festive story of friendship and family from bestseller Jessica Redland. You can find out what happens to Carly next through exploring her best friend Tara’s story in Starry Skies Over The Chocolate Pot Café.

    Christmas at Carly’s Cupcakes Review

I loved everything about this book! The characters, the settings, the romance, the drama, and Christmas theme was just perfect!

The highlight of the story is the characters, and the author wrote them in such a wonderful manner that I was glued to them. Carly is just the best! I loved her personality and how she tries to help everyone, even if they don’t treat her the same. As how Liam beautifully describes her as “why would I want biscuits when I can have cake” (one of my favorite lines in the book), I just adored everything about her.  Moreover, I loved Carly and Liam and together and thought their romance was so beautiful! They share so many cute moments like making snow angels or helping her at the Café.

One character that surprised me was Bethany. Initially, I didn’t like Bethany because I thought she was self-centered. However, as I continued reading, I felt sorry for her and even started to like her. Even Paige and Elodie made interesting negative characters. The author has such a charming style of writing that makes you immediately warm to the story. I have not read the previous book in the series, but I had no trouble catching up to this.

However, there are some very minor things which I wished the author added. For instance, I would have loved to watch a scene where Carly gives it back to Jasper for treating her that way. I also wished Paige made an appearance and got her comeuppance.

But, overall, this is the perfect Christmas contemporary romance and I look forward to reading Tara’s continuation in “Starry Skies Over The Chocolate Pot Café”
