    When a girl disappears, long-buried secrets resurface…

Coco is missing. Her room’s a mess, and her phone is left behind in her dorm at Lainsbury Hall School

Ella, Coco’s childhood best friend, is desperate for her to return, although she knows that if she ever sees Coco again, there’ll be a lot of explaining to do.

Bea knows that her new group of friends attracts drama, and she thinks she has the last shred of common sense between them all. Only, if that was true, she would leave Genevieve, her toxic ex, well alone.

Conrad is confident that Coco will return safe and well. Only, the way his secrets are unravelling, he’s worried he won’t be when this is all over.

Harrison and Coco are the perfect couple. Everyone knows that. But looks can be misleading. Even the smartest boy in school can make a terrible mistake.

In order to navigate the web of secrets and lies that Coco leaves behind, her circle of friends needs to unravel a few of their own.

But the question remains: What happened to Coco?

    About the Author:

VB Furlong is a trainee lawyer and writer of young adult novels living in Berkshire, UK. She wrote her first “novel” at ten years old and has not stopped writing since then. As a teenager, VB Furlong wrote for her local paper and an online magazine whilst devouring any book she could find, and in writing for an older teen demographic hopes to instil the same love of books as she had, and still has to this day.

Through her writing she aims to explore many of the issues she faced herself growing up, in the hopes that others facing the same issues feel some solidarity. Her friendships are a huge part of her life and consequently is a major theme in her writing, exploring the way in which we interact with each other, especially in difficult times.

Originally from Mumbles, Swansea, VB Furlong enjoys the sun and the sea, and walking her three dogs across the cliffs. These walks have offered her inspiration for many pieces of writing, including What Happened to Coco.

Let me start by saying how I liked how the author executed the mystery. The story begins as a typical young adult mystery thriller where you wonder what happened to Coco. The author focuses the story on Coco’s friends, Ella, Bea, Conrad, and Harrison, and for me, the characters were the highlights.

Each character stands apart, and I admired how the author focused on their dilemma. Conrad was my favorite because I felt her was complex, dealing with his relationship with Ella and his mother’s problems. At times he thinks that Harrison and Ella took Coco’s friendship for granted, and it was interesting to see how his relationship with Ella progressed. Similarly, I liked reading the dynamics of Harrison and Coco, Bea and India, and all the other inter-connected friendships. Ella was also an interesting character but not as strong as the others.

The author also toggles the story between the past and the present in between paragraphs, which I thought was very creative, making the story interactive. Considering that this is the author’s debut, I thought she did a fabulous job executing the tale!

However, I wished there were more twists and turns to the story. Don’t get me wrong; the tale is emotional, touching, mysterious, and compelling. However, at times, I felt the author focused more on the drama of the characters instead of the mystery plot and thought it could have been more equally balanced.

Apart from that, I thought “What Happened to Coco ” was a beautiful young-adult mystery and one of those books that make you miss the characters once you finish reading.

A captivating modern-day fantasy filled with intrigue, suspense, mythology, magical objects, and special abilities, Jo Visuri’s adventurous tale will sweep you away to mystical Auor Island—where nothing is quite as it seems!

A remote island. Old secrets. And a cascade of unintended consequences.

Long ago, four clans from earth’s four corners were given magical abilities to help save humanity from oblivion. For generations, their descendants have lived in hidden communities without in touch with regular humans, leading to whispers of unforeseen consequences.
Now, in the present day and for unknown purposes, one Clan quietly and desperately seeks the rumored, undiscovered offspring.

Meanwhile, in the heart of a northern archipelago, Elin Bodil leads a perfectly ordinary, happy life on Auor Island with her family. By accident, she meets both a motorcycle driving stranger and the new mysterious boy next door. And Elin’s world is turned upside down.
As Elin is drawn into a brewing supernatural conflict with her two unusual acquaintances on opposite sides, she must decide who to trust while unearthing her island’s secrets and those buried deep within herself. But when the search for answers triggers the Clan’s sinister schemes, Elin and her companions will have to confront far bigger and deadlier secrets than they ever imagined. And they’ll need much more than themselves to survive.

Welcome to Auor Island and the legend and magic within its ruins.

    The Undiscovered Descendants Review:

“The Undiscovered Descendants” is a gripping fantasy novel that would lure you into its exciting world and make you want more.

When the story started, I thought it would be another young adult drama novel as the new neighbor arrives. When they meet each other, Elin and Aeden have sizzling chemistry, and I wondered how it would progress. But, the story shook me when Hunter Tristan entered the picture and targeted Elin for the awakening ritual. The author opened a whole new world with the Dormant Descendants and Clans, and I could not put the book down.

The beauty of the tale is how all the characters appear somewhat gray, and you don’t know if they are hiding something. I enjoyed the dynamics of all the three characters, like when Aeden feels Elin slipping away from him when she spends more time with Tristan. The author also reveals the world in bits and pieces, so you fit the details as the story progresses. Some memorable moments in the tale are the scenes at the coffee shop or what happens at the dance. While the story starts off a bit slow, the author speeds the pace gradually, which eventually leads to a thrilling climax in the library.

There are some surprising twists that I did not see coming. I also enjoyed how the author toggled the storyline from the three characters’ perspectives, making you closely connect with them. The author ends the book in a cliffhanger that makes you scream at the story and look forward to the next installment.

Overall, “The Undiscovered Descendants” is a gripping start to the series, and I can’t wait to read how it continues.

I have the chance at a perfect afterlife. Now if only my two fated mates weren’t making it a living hell…

As an Enchanted, I might not be able to shift like other wolves, but I’ve saved countless lives through the visions I receive. And in the end, saving others cost me my life.
That sacrifice buys me a one-way ticket to my LAST chance at happiness: an afterlife in the God Realm.
    Sounds great, right?
    Wrong.

The problem is, the perfect afterlife for me includes settling down with my fated mate. And whoever he is, he’s probably back down on Earth wondering where the hell I am.
When I actually find my fated mate, the gorgeous but scarred white wolf Lucian, in the God Realm with me, I learn that the wolf of my dreams, my other half, the wolf that was created to complete me…
…wants absolutely nothing to do with me.
Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, a second fated mate shows up out of nowhere… and he’s not even a werewolf. Just my luck.

It turns out my two mates can’t stand each other. And while Lucian may not want me himself, he doesn’t want Remir to have me either. Seriously?
All I know is, if either one of these two hotheads rejects me, my one last chance at a perfect afterlife could turn into an eternal hell—or worse…

“Wolf Reborn” is the first book of the Wolf Reborn series, the next New Adult shifter paranormal romance in the bestselling world of Luna Rising.

In fact, Loki inspired her to write her best-selling series “Luna Rising” (although he’s still more of a beta than an alpha!).

    Wolf Reborn Review:

I recently read “Luna Rising” by the author and enjoyed the author’s writing style. Needless to say, “Wolf Reborn” was just as entertaining, where we get transported into the same universe, filled with paranormal, action, intrigue, and romance, with werewolves and vampires.

The characters are entertaining, and I liked Natalie in the lead as she adjusts to her life as an Enchanted. Natalie is strong in that she is not afraid to take on challenges in the story. The author also wrote the romance between Natalie and her two mates wonderfully, and it was one of the book’s highlights. Both Lucian and Rumir are charismatic, and I enjoyed Natalie’s chemistry with both of them. However, I gravitated more towards Rumir because of how the author wrote him. Rumir wants Natalie not to have a wrong impression of him and tries his best to win her, whereas Lucian tries to control his temper.

Similarly, the plot is equally entertaining, with some shocking twists. Some memorable moments in the tale were the incident at the ball or when they witnessed the Cripecs Hunt. Brian and Rehema are also engaging in the supporting roles, and I liked the concept of teleportation, like when Natalie teleports to the festival with Brian.
My favorite moment in the story is when Natalie visits Elinor and tells the history of the vampires and werewolves. Elinor was one of my favorite characters, and I hope we see more of her in the other /future books.

Overall, “Wolf Reborn” is a beautiful start to the series, and even if you are have not read any of the author’s works, you will enjoy reading it!

Melody faces her fears to follow her passion in this stunning sequel to the acclaimed, New York Times bestselling middle grade novel Out of My Mind.

Melody, the huge-hearted heroine of Out of My Mind, is a year older, and a year braver. And now with her Medi-talker, she feels nothing’s out of her reach, not even summer camp. There have to be camps for differently-abled kids like her, and she’s going to sleuth one out. A place where she can trek through a forest, fly on a zip line, and even ride on a horse! A place where maybe she really can finally make a real friend, make her own decisions, and even do things on her own—the dream!

By the light of flickering campfires and the power of thunderstorms, through the terror of unexpected creatures in cabins and the first sparkle of a crush, Melody’s about to discover how brave and strong she really is.

    Out of My Heart Review:

While you can read this as a standalone, I highly encourage you to read “Out of my mind” first to read Melody’s history.

I was excited about this book because I thought the author took it to another level, where it felt different than the first. In the previous book, Melody had the support of her family to overcome her challenges. However, here we see her in a completely new environment where she has to face the difficulties by herself.

Even the supporting characters like Noah, Jeremiah, Devin, Santiago, and Malik were memorable. It was fun to see how Melody gets a crush on Noah. You can see her mature as a person as she overcomes her fears and learns to make friends. I loved how the author added many adventurous activities for Melody to experience, like horseback riding and zip-lining. One of my other favorite characters was camp counselor Trinity, as she encouraged her to participate in new activities. Once you finish reading this book, you feel like the people of Camp Green Glades are your close friends, and you miss them. The tale highlights were when Karyn gets stuck in the mud or when the teams play the Balloon game.

So the bottom line is, is this book as good as the first? In my opinion, probably not. If the author had released the sequel a few years back, I would have thought so. But, in recent years, there have been so many more powerful books about disabilities and fighting challenges. Nevertheless, I do feel that Melody and the series in itself are a must-read.

Overall, I thought “Out of My Heart ” was a lovely addition to the series, and I would encourage readers to read the previous book before this one.

From award-winning author Sharon Draper comes a story that will forever change how we all look at anyone with a disability, perfect for fans of RJ Palacio’s Wonder.

Melody is not like most people. She cannot walk or talk, but she has a photographic memory. And  she can remember every detail of everything she has ever experienced. She is smarter than most of the adults who try to diagnose her and smarter than her classmates in her integrated classroom – the very same classmates who dismiss her as mentally challenged because she cannot tell them otherwise. But Melody refuses her definition of cerebral palsy. And she has the determination to let everyone know it – somehow.

    Out of My Mind Review:

“Out of My Mind” is one of the best middle-grade novels I have read, and I recommend it to a reader of any age!

The synopsis of the book immediately drew me in. Honestly, I have never met a character like Melody in any middle-grade novel that I have read, and I adored her from the get-go. She is intelligent, ambitious, and full of life. But, because of her predicament, she cannot show it to the world and gets frustrated from it. My heart went out to her from the beginning when she got placed with the other disabled children. As the story progresses, you see how Melody’s life changes. I loved Melody because even though she faces so many challenges (that others take for granted), she never lets it stagger her hope and determination. The story is not all sunshine and roses, and you see Melody facing many hurdles, and I admire how the author realistically wrote her with pride.

Moreover, I also adored the way the author narrated the story. The author progresses the story so well, and the second half of the book is so exciting. You will go on a whirlwind of emotions, from anger and heartbreak to hope and move on. Some memorable moments are when Penny comes into their lives or when Melody uses the Medi-talker for the first time (which got tears in my eyes). Moreover, I loved her connection with Mrs. V. There are also some despicable characters in the story who tries to bring Melody down. Even characters like Rose and Rodney were annoying. You get personally invested in Melody’s life as you read the tale, and the entire book is memorable!

Overall, “Out of My Mind” is a heartwarming and heartbreaking middle-grade novel that you should indeed read!

Mix together a used food truck, a road trip that doesn’t exactly go as planned, and a lot of pie, and you have the recipe for this sweet middle grade series starter brimming with humor, heart, and a family you’ll fall in love with. Perfect for readers who gobbled down The Penderwicks and The Vanderbeeks of 141st Street.

Sweet summer has taken a rotten turn . . .

After a tough year, Lucy, Freddy, and Herb Peach are ready for vacation. Lucy wants to read all of the books on the summer reading list. Freddy wants to work on his art projects (when he isn’t stuck in summer school). Herb wants to swim every day.

Then their dad makes a big announcement: one of the inventions their mom came up with before she passed away has sold, and now they’re millionaires!

But Dad has bigger plans than blowing the cash on fun stuff or investing it. He’s bought a used food truck. The Peaches are going to spend the summer traveling the country selling pies. It will be the Great Peach Experiment—a summer of bonding while living out one of Mom’s dreams. Summer plans, sunk. And there’s one more issue Dad’s neglected: none of them knows how to bake. . . .

A perfect blend of humor, heart, and family antics, When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Peach Pie is a delectable treat to be gobbled down or savored slowly. (Slice of pie on the side, optional, but highly recommended.)

When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Peach Pie  Review:

If you want to read a book that encourages you to make the best of a bad situation and live your life to the fullest, this is the book to read!

“When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Peach Pie” is an adorable middle-grade novel that will sure to capture the young reader’s attention for its superb execution. The author adds fun, quirky illustrations like Lucy’s did if she became a millionaire or her postcards to Great Aunt Lucinda. Some moments had me laughing out loud, like when she describes Chicago’s various types of people.

Moreover, I loved how the author took us on a road trip as the Peaches stopped by various places on their way to the Food Truck Festival. From Minneapolis and Midwest’s Premier Blues Music Festival to Chicago, Michigan, and North Carolina, I felt like I was with the family as they went on their adventure with Peach Power! The author spices up the story with the various glitches the family encounter that affects their inventory of items to cook or problems with the air conditioner.

I also adored how the author told the story. Even the tiny moments had me smiling. For instance, when we read the beautiful selection of Lucy’s reading list (some of which I want to add to my own), or how to go about things with a scientific approach, from research and hypothesis to experimenting and data analysis.

Lucy is excellent in the lead! Frankly, I loved all the characters, including Freddy and Herb, and found it hard to dislike anyone. The story has such a feel-good, humorous factor that you would not notice the time fly by once you start reading. Overall, I enjoyed reading “When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Peach Pie” and found it uplifting.

Gordon Korman meets The Great Outdoors in this funny and moving debut about a boy who goes on a disastrous family vacation (sweltering heat! bear chases!) that ends with a terrible surprise: his dad’s new girlfriend.

There are zero reasons for Theo Ripley to look forward to his family vacation. Not only are he, sister Laura, and nature-obsessed Dad going to Big Bend, the least popular National Park, but once there, the family will be camping. And Theo is an indoor animal. It doesn’t help that this will be the first vacation they’re taking since Mom passed away.

Once there, the family contends with 110 degree days, wild bears, and an annoying amateur ornithologist and his awful teenage vlogger son. Then, Theo’s dad hits him with a whopper of a surprise: the whole trip is just a trick to introduce his secret new girlfriend.

Theo tries to squash down the pain in his chest. But when it becomes clear that this is an auditioning-to-be-his-stepmom girlfriend, Theo must find a way to face his grief and talk to his dad before his family is forever changed.

    An Occasionally Happy Family Review:

“An Occasionally Happy Family” turned out to be a very entertaining middle-grade realistic fiction, and I loved reading it!

Firstly, kudos to the author for writing such a fun debut novel. What stood out in the tale was how the author balances humor with the emotional aspect. Theo, our main character, doesn’t have the best time, as he goes on a trip with his family to Big Bend National Park. Theo encounters various zany situations that made me chuckle as to what would happen next. However, the second half of the tale also gets emotional, and you see a different side to Theo that makes you emphasize with him.

Secondly, the author also takes the plot in such a unique manner. Theo encounters a birdwatcher and his son, gets close to a bear attack, and meets a hilarious nudist French Couple named Sylvie and Bernard. As though this is not enough, his dad also surprises him to meet his new girlfriend, Lucrecia. The story surprises you in that you don’t know what will happen next.

Thirdly, I adored Theo. The author wrote his feelings so accurately that I felt I might have reacted the same way if I were in his shoes. The author also describes his sense of missing his mom and adjusting to the changes nicely. Moreover, the author also describes the beauty and the harshness of nature as the story progresses. Theo also has to bear the small tents to lousy air conditioning in the lodge in scorching weather. On a side note, I also liked the conversations he had with his friend Angel P. about the situation.

Overall, “An Occasionally Happy Family” is a lovely middle-grade novel that will make you laugh and entertain you.

By the author of 2021 Pura Belpré Honor Book The Total Eclipse of Nestor Lopez, a sweeping, emotional middle grade historical novel about a twelve-year-old boy who leaves his family in Cuba to immigrate to the U.S. by himself, based on the author’s family history.

“I don’t remember. Tell me everything, Pepito. Tell me about Cuba.”

When the failed Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961 solidifies Castro’s power in Cuba, twelve-year-old Cumba’s family makes the difficult decision to send him to Florida alone. Faced with the prospect of living in another country by himself, Cumba tries to remember the sound of his father’s clarinet, the smell of his mother’s lavender perfume.

Also, life in the United States presents a whole new set of challenges. Lost in a sea of English speakers, Cumba has to navigate a new city, a new school, and new freedom all on his own. With each day, Cumba feels more confident in his new surroundings, but he continues to wonder: Will his family ever be whole again? Or will they remain just out of reach, ninety miles across the sea?

    Cuba in My Pocket Review:

What if you had to leave your family to live and adapt yourself in a foreign country at the age of twelve? “Cuba in My Pocket” captured my heart from the first page, and I could not put it down.

Firstly let me talk about the characters. Cumba is excellent, and I immediately rooted for him. It was interesting to see how Fidel’s Revolution impacted his family, and they had to go through quite a few struggles. He sees the change in his country and has trouble recognizing it after Fidel’s takeover. I loved how he tried to stay positive and had a responsibility to represent Cuba well. I loved all the historical details that the author added to the tale to make it as accurate as possible.

The author also places the story so grippingly for a middle-grade novel. I got goosebumps reading some of the scenes, like when Pepito witnesses something horrible and starts crying or when Cumba has trouble communicating and fitting in Miami. Moreover, the author has used her own family experiences and written the story with her heart poured into it. Similarly, I also enjoyed the letters exchanged between Pepito and Cumba. Even the supporting characters like Mr. Reynolds and Arnold were memorable.

Moreover, I loved how authentic the author made the book. She beautifully embeds various Spanish terms in the dialogues, where even if you don’t understand its meaning, you get what they are saying. Nevertheless, I also appreciated the glossary of terms she includes towards the end. This book will make you smile, cry, and warm your heart, and also make you learn about the Revolution.

Overall, “Cuba in My Pocket ” is a lovely historical, middle-grade fiction that I would highly recommend.

    Heartless Prince Review:

“Heartless Prince” is a beautiful, magical tale!

I’ll be honest, when I started reading this book, I thought it was a little bumpy. The author dives right into the plot, and it took time for me to understand what was happening. However, I could not put it down once I invested in the storyline, particularly when Aradia’s Witch enters the picture. The story is on fire, especially when Evony has to find Nissa.

Evony is perfect in the role. On the one hand, she is adorable and naive for showing her emotions upfront, but on the other hand, she has a powerful force to sense the familiars. There were some sweet moments, like how she has a crush on Ammon. Similarly, Nissa was also one of my favorites, and I loved her spunk and attitude.

Moreover, the book has many thrilling moments, like when they go through the forest to sense the Familiars or when she meets the Guard. Some scenes also shocked me, like the attack on Paul when the Familiars attack the barrier.

The creators also did a beautiful job in executing the story. The plot is gripping from the get-go, and I was wondering how it would turn out. Right from the beginning, I questioned why the Familiars were after Evony. Similarly, the illustrations are also lovely, and I particularly love the expressions of the characters. I feel Lady Nissa made the story adorable because of her gestures and expressions. Even the way they draw the backdrop of Gallea is gorgeous.

The story leads to an exciting climax as well as a shocking cliffhanger. Overall, “Heartless Prince” was a gorgeous fantasy graphic novel, and I am excited to read its continuation.

“TWILIGHT MEETS PRIDE AND PREJUDICE” Bellocaro will transport anyone who enjoyed Twilight or loves a gripping paranormal romance… to a new world down South.

Fleeing the school jock who thinks she should be his, Skye Moon encounters a strange boy in the woods. After meeting the mysterious and captivating Thatcher Blue, she is dragged into a nightmare. Skye is targeted by a vampire who wants to kill her just for being near the alluring Thatcher.
With a target on her back, she doesn’t know if she’ll survive. Skye hopes that the dark-eyed boy from her premonitions will keep her safe, if he ever reveals himself.

She is astonished when Thatcher and his family come to the high school run by her mother. Thatcher has managed to keep the secrets of his monster family hidden for more than a century, but not from Skye. She rightly suspects the new kids are something other than ‘kids.’
Complicating matters is the way Thatcher looks at her, like she means the world to him because he has visions too. The pair find themselves caught between danger and longing.
    Will Thatcher save her?
Or like his visions have predicted –kill her?

Profoundly romantic and thrilling, Bellocaro captures the life and death struggle between disobeying your intuition and following your heart. Award winning, best selling author P.S. Meraux brings humor and heat to this vampire love story that will drive fans of books like Twilight or Shade of Vampire wild with enthusiasm.

    Author Bio:

I mainline coffee and chocolate, worry about the width of my hips and peruse too many cooking magazines. I suspect I wouldn’t fret about one if I didn’t indulge in the other. I’m obsessive about quality, so much so, I keep going back to tweak my earlier books, hoping to make them better. “Why are your characters flawed?” one reviewer asked. “Because people are,” I replied. Although I’m very protective of them, hoping beyond measure that they’ll find acceptance. Not ridicule. As a true ‘GRITS’ (girl raised in the south) people expect me to have bat-shit crazy relatives. The question here isn’t IF, but rather, which side of the family are they on? Needless to say they offer a pool of inspiration into which I liberally dip.

My characters are a bit OCD. Not in the vein of obsessive-compulsive, that would be too a la carte, mine are ‘occasionally crazy or damaged.’ And I think you’ll enjoy them. As someone who understands wrestling with complex issues, it’s easy to share their stories. I myself grew up with an ill mum, so I began creating imaginary friends at a young age to keep me company. In addition to writing and cooking, I’m an avid mountain climber who keeps up with an assortment of pets. As a life-long globe trotter, I can tell you that I like nothing better than a good story and a road trip. I hope you enjoy this one. Please let me know what works and what doesn’t. I’m always interested in hearing feedback, reviews, comments, and questions are most welcome. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration. Happy reading.

    Bellocaro Review:

It’s been a while since I read an entertaining young adult vampire story, and “Bellocaro” did not disappoint!

I admit, when I saw the cover of this book, I thought it would be a ripoff of another famous vampire series. Nevertheless, I gave the story a shot, and I honestly could not put it down.

The author sets the excitement right from the first page as Skye finds herself in Sceadu and encounters monster creatures. I loved Skye in the lead and felt the author portrayed her realistically for this genre. The story takes full swing once Thatcher and his group enter the picture. I got completely engrossed in the drama between Rane and Skye and how mysterious Alton and Wes are.

Moreover, the author sets the mystery and intrigue nicely as you notice Thatcher keeping secrets. One of my favorite moments is the incident at the cafeteria. Or when Skye finds Thatcher in the woods and spies on Alton and Wes. Furthermore, I was intrigued by the mysterious vampire in the hoodie who keeps coming in Skye’s dreams and his connection to the storyline.

As this is a young adult novel with hormonal teenagers, the author also adds a touch of romance to the tale. However, she does this nicely so that not to disrupt the plot. As the story progresses, we get to know the bigger picture, leading to a thrilling climax.

Not to mention, the author ends the story in a shocking cliffhanger that I did not see coming. I hope the author releases the sequel because this book is SO good!

Overall, I enjoyed reading “Bellocaro” and look forward to reading its continuation.
