What if your daughter spotted you in a rock video astride the shoulders of the father she never met?

First, Robin Hamilton, an only child, is born to privilege and adoring parents who always stand beside her. She has a daughter, Lark, who also grows up in the lap of luxury with an adoring family. One thing is missing, though, is that Lark grows up without a father.

Robin is poised to reveal a three-decades-old family secret that will alter the course of three lives. Her daughter Lark unexpectedly spots her mother in a rock documentary, twenty-one, luminous, and perched on the shoulders of a handsome young man. That man is Lark’s father, Dean Falconer, though neither of them knows the truth. Meanwhile, Robin decides it’s time to come clean. Flashback to 1977 when Robin meets Dean at a Washington, D.C. concert. Later, the two falls in love over a single transcendent weekend. But now Robin hasn’t spoken to Dean in thirty-five years. While Lark is enthusiastic about meeting her father, Robin must deal with what could have been. Subsequently, spring full of revelations and one extraordinary summer in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia will teach these three the ultimate measure of honesty, passion, and devotion.

Altogether, IN ROBIN’S NEST is a richly detailed story, resplendent in charm and poignancy. In essence, it’s about living with your choices, the ties that keep family together, and finding that it’s never too late.

In Robin’s Nest Review:

“In Robin’s Nest” is one of those books that just put a smile on my face and made me hopeful. It is a beautiful story that tells you that it is never too late in life to find or rekindle your love for someone.

The author writes the story in a fresh manner, where she alternates between timelines and perspectives. Robin is terrific in the lead, and I loved her chemistry with Dean, friendship with Teresa, and bond with Lark. She is realistic and complex, with varying emotions that resonate with the reader. Similarly, I loved all the supporting characters like Nick, Theresa, and Lark.

Moreover, I liked the story because even the supporting characters had their fair share of drama. From Lark’s accident to Nick’s one night stand, the author gave importance to everyone. I also chuckled during the part where Mary asks Dean awkward adult questions and makes him uncomfortable.

On a side note, I enjoyed the apt references that the author puts in corresponding to that timeline, like “Mork and Mindy” and “The Love Boat.” The author added many tidbits into the storyline to make the setting, timelines, and characters as authentic as possible.

The only minor criticism I initially had to the story was the instant love between Dean and Robin. While I fell in love with them after a few pages, the instant love initially threw me off a bit.

Apart from that, this was just wonderful. If you are a fan of contemporary romance and love authors like Danielle Steel and Nicholas Sparks, please give this book a chance.
