Love is the aria of the soul.

Charlotte Sapori has led a wonderful life safely tucked in the bosom of her family. Charlotte is close to her older brother, Nicco, and their parents love them . All is well until her mother receives an unexpected diagnosis which shakes the family’s core.

Knowing herself to be dying, Adler confesses to Charlotte things that have long been kept from her, telling her to find and read her diary. A distressed Lucca Sapori tells his daughter to read his as well. And by the way, Lucca Sapori is not his real name; in fact, she may have heard of him; he is actually the world-famous detective Sherlock Holmes.

Song for Someone Review:

I must confess that I haven’t read the Sherlock Holmes novels, though I am aware of the iconic detective. What I appreciated about the author’s work was how masterfully they breathed life into these well-known characters, transforming them into their own. As “Song for Someone” unfolds, we get an engaging journey with Irene Adler and Sherlock Holmes. They grapple with their pasts, confront fresh challenges, and nurture an extraordinary bond that will shape their destinies for decades. The book offers a tantalizing glimpse into the Sapori family’s history, values, and the close-knit ties that bind them.

I relished how the author meticulously crafted the groundwork for a multifaceted and captivating family mystery. It subtly hints at concealed secrets and unexpected connections that will gradually unravel as the story progresses. What initially struck me as a peculiar notion—to re-envision the relationship between Irene Adler and Sherlock Holmes—blossomed into a finely wrought tale replete with historical depth and well-rounded characters.

Numerous heartwarming moments touched me. One such instance is when Charlotte performs a piece composed by her mother, titled “Emergence,” for her father. The melody carries profound significance for Irene, evoking memories of when she and her spouse believed they might never reunite. Another poignant moment unfolds as Irene Adler and Sherlock Holmes share an intimate and heartfelt evening at Othello’s Ristorante, deepening their connection and sharing glimpses of their respective pasts. The book provides the warmth of their relationship, the splendor of the setting, and the enchantment of the music—all converging to create an unforgettable evening in Florence.

Nonetheless, the author hints at the persisting enigmas and lurking perils underlying the story’s backdrop. Overall, my experience with “Song for Someone” was thoroughly enjoyable.
