Starry Skies Over The Chocolate Pot Cafe:  Review

I loved this story so much! Reading it made me want to hug my parents (more than anything), and have a hot chocolate with a loved one.

For me, the highlight was the main character. I loved Tara. It’s very rare when you can connect to a character so well. I could completely relate to her building walls around her to avoid getting hurt. The main reason why I really loved her was because she started to gain confidence and self-empowerment even before interacting with Jed. I loved the way she progressed as a person and put herself out there with the community. Similarly, Jed is also wonderful in the role. Initially when I read about him, I really didn’t like him. But like Tara, you slowly start to see his perspective and your heart melts for him. Both of them share a dynamic chemistry. Even the supporting characters like Carly, Erin, Lucy, and yes, even Hercules all complement the plot so beautifully.

The author is now one of my favorites for contemporary romance. The pacing is perfect, the characters are lovable, and the story-lines are heart-warming. Moreover, she paints the characters and writes emotions in such a beautiful manner, that you love the main characters, and hate the negative characters with a passion. Some of my favorite scenes is when Tara sees Jed’s paintings, or when we learn about Jed’s past. Speaking of negative characters, I thought Leanne and Garth were despicable.

Overall, this book is perfect in every way, and I loved everything about it. I hope the author writes many more Christmas-themed novels, and I cannot wait to read her other books!

  1. Oh my goodness, Rajiv! What a review! I can’t stop smiling! I’m so delighted you’ve discovered my stories through these two books and that my writing and my characters have spoken to you. Everything you describe about this story is what I was hoping a reader would discover and enjoy. And to say I’m one of your favourites for contemporary romance – wow! I love writing Christmas books and definitely have plans for more, including a sequel to Starry Skies, hopefully out next year. Thank you again
