It’s springtime at The Vineyard in Alsace, a new season and a new beginning

After being abandoned by her partner when she falls pregnant, Lottie Schell goes home to live on The Vineyard in Alsace, where she has started a new relationship with the estate’s winemaker, Thierry. Now about to give birth, Lottie’s determined to raise her child and to provide for them both on her own without having to depend on anyone else.

Thierry Bernard is still dealing with his grief and guilt following the death of his wife two years earlier, for which he blames himself. When he meets Lottie, the instant attraction he feels towards her gives him hope that he can move on from the tragedy of his past, as long as he can tell Lottie the truth of what happened.

When circumstances force Lottie and Thierry closer together, they both find it hard to compromise – she’s proudly independent and he’s fiercely protective – and they’re both wary about trusting someone new with their heart.

Can Lottie and Thierry take a chance on each other, move on from their pasts and start over?

Escape to The Vineyard in Alsace once again with this romantic read set in the heart of Alsace’s wine country.

Starting Over at the Vineyard in Alsace Review:

I love heart-warming, emotional stories, and this book did not disappoint.

I really liked the author’s style of writing. The story is simple yet so beautiful. We all build walls around us once we have been heartbroken. Naturally, it takes time to trust people again to bring those walls down. The author beautifully highlights how Thierry and Lottie face issues from their past to trust each other. Moreover, the author writes the dialogues in such a way that connected with me. I could completely relate to what these characters were going through. Also, even though I have not read the previous book, I could still pick up on what happened.

Thierry was the highlight in this tale. I just loved everything about him. He is the perfect gentleman. Moreover, he know he has emotional burdens that he must get past. He tries his best to get better and tries to make things better for those around him. I loved the supporting characters too like Fran, Didier, Chlöe and Sylvie.

However, I found it difficult to root for Lottie. She seemed so defensive and hostile towards everyone, especially Thierry. Even though Thierry fights with secrets from his past, at least he tried to overcome it. He gave up pride and changed himself to win Lottie back. But Lottie kept pushing him aside and finding faults in everything he did. Even though I understand why she reacts that way, I wish she was empathetic towards Thierry and didn’t think only of herself.

Apart from that, this was a very nice, emotional story. I will definitely pick up Book 1 to see how the series started with Fran. Overall, a very nice story!
