About the Author:
Cat first started writing when someone thrust a pencil into her hand. Unfortunately, as she could neither read nor write properly at the time, none of her stories actually made much sense. However, as she grew up, they gradually began to take form, and, at the tender age of nine or ten, she sold her dolls’ house and various other toys to buy her first typewriter – an Empire Smith Corona. She hasn’t stopped bashing away at the keys ever since, although her keyboard of choice now belongs to her laptop.
The need to earn a living led to a varied career in sales, advertising, and career guidance. Still, Cat is now the full-time author of several paranormal, ghostly, and Gothic horror novels and novellas, including Waking the Ancients, Wrath of the Ancients, The Devil’s Serenade, Dark Avenging Angel, The Pendle Curse, Saving Grace Devine, and Linden Manor. The Haunting of Henderson Close is her first novel for Flame Tree Press.
She lives with her longsuffering husband and a black cat (who remembers that her species used to be worshipped in ancient Egypt and sees no reason why that practice should not continue). Also, they divide their time between Liverpool and a 260-year-old haunted apartment in North Wales.
When not slaving over a hot computer, Cat enjoys rambling around stately homes, circles of standing stones, and traveling to favorite haunts such as Vienna and Orkney.

“The Haunting of Henderson Close” was eerie, haunting, and SO entertaining! This story takes you on a spooky, unforgettable trip!
Firstly, I loved the time travel element. The author writes the story in such a creative manner where the characters travel back in time and retrieve clues to solve the mystery. While this may sound flaky, the author narrates it sensibly and compellingly, making sense and giving the story an added depth.
This book is the first one that I read of the author, and I loved her writing style. I enjoyed all three main characters. I immediately rooted for Hannah because of her past. George is a sweet friend to Hannah, and I loved their chemistry. I enjoyed the story because the author did not unnecessarily create a romantic angle between the two.
Moreover, even Mairead was a fascinating character. The author glued me to the pages as we try to figure out what is happening to her. Does she live with her grandmother, or is she faking it? Why does she look exactly like Miss Carmichael? The author creatively sets up many questions that all get resolved towards the end. Even Isobel is very spooky where you don’t know if she is good or evil.
I loved everything about this story. The reveal as to who Ms. Carmichael’s killer is also a surprise and a person I did not expect. I got the shivers after reading this book. Moreover, I have always been fascinated to visit Edinburgh to take a tour of its ghostly sites. One of my favorite scenes is when Mairead wakes up, and she cannot remember what happened to her.
Overall, “The Haunting of Henderson Close” is a fantastic spooky book to read if you love historical themed horror.
