It’s time to pack your bags and head to the breathtaking, snow-covered peaks of the Swiss Alps for velvety hot chocolates, delicious cheeses, and a gorgeous love story.
Food technician Mina has always believed that chocolate will solve everything. And it’s just what she needs when her latest relationship mishap goes viral!
So to sort her life out, Mina decides to drown her sorrows with the best hot chocolate in the world at her godmother’s cozy Swiss chalet. Besides, for her, Chocolate is yes and Romance no. It is only until she meets a mysterious but gorgeous stranger on an Alpine train. More so, her female spidey senses tingle when she finds the man staying at the same chalet.
Mina immediately fights her attraction because this is NOT what she needs in her life now. Yet Mina can’t seem to evade the allure of the delicious food, enchanting setting, and handsome stranger she is starting to get to know. And quite possibly might find that the one thing she doesn’t want in her life is exactly what she needs.
About the Author:
Julie Caplin has an addiction to travel and good food. She’s on a constant hunt for the perfect gin and is obsessively picky about glasses, tonic, and garnishes. Between regular gin tastings, she’s been writing her debut novel in just one of the many cities of her exploration.
Formerly a PR director, she swanned around Europe for many years, taking top food and drink writers on press trips (junkets), sampling the gastronomic delights of various cities in Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, Copenhagen, and Switzerland. It was a tough job, but someone had to do it. These trips have provided the trilogy’s inspiration and settings, The Little Cafe in Copenhagen, The Little Brooklyn Bakery, and The Little Paris Patisserie.
Julie also writes contemporary romance as Jules Wake.
The Little Swiss Ski Chalet Review:
If you are a fan of chocolate and love romance novels, then “The Little Swiss Ski Chalet” is your book!
There are so many moments that I adored! The author has a beautiful and smooth style of writing. Firstly, I loved the food theme of the story. While I am not a connoisseur of food, I enjoyed the culinary details the author included. Moreover, she seamlessly provides recipes in the character’s conversations, which makes it entertaining.
Secondly, I loved the beautiful descriptions of Switzerland. I felt like I was with Mina and the group as they toured the beautiful landscape. The author describes the lush beauty, as well as various sightseeing spots. I would love to visit “The Gruyere Factory” and even the “Giger Bar” after reading the book.
Thirdly, I enjoyed the characters. Mina is adorable in the lead as she tries to start a new life and find a new path. She shares beautiful chemistry with Luke, and I loved their moments of ‘serendipity.’ On a side note, I also loved Luke’s passion for miniature models. Furthermore, I am a sucker for love stories where people believe in fate and luck, and their romance puts a smile on my face. Moreover, Mina shares a beautiful relationship with Amelie. Similarly, even Johannes was an interesting character. He is direct and intimidating but fond of Amelie and has a good heart.
However, my only minor complaint in the story is that it was too sweet at times. The characters are adorable and charming for the most part, and it would have been nice to have a prominent person like Belinda spice things up.
Apart from that, “The Little Swiss Ski Chalet” is a beautiful romance with many beautiful moments, making it memorable.
