It’s the summer before high school and life is about to change for fourteen-year-old Alyssa McCarthy. A sorcerer hexes her with everlasting powers, requiring her to become an enchantress. If she cannot learn to control her magic pronto, she will forget her loved ones and serve as the warlock’s eternal slave.
To control her powers, Alyssa must gain control of her emotions. With the struggles of adolescence and disasters everywhere, catastrophes are bound to happen! It’s only a matter of time before Alyssa’s world changes, for better or worse…

The New Enchantress Review:
The New Enchantress is an exciting continuation of the “Alyssa McCarthy’s Magical Missions” series, and it did not disappoint.
What I enjoy about this series, in general, is how the author manages to excite the readers with something new in each chapter. Alyssa goes through a lot in this book to deal with maniacal sorcerors like Boo-Champ Corey and Mistress Margaret. The New Enchantress also ups the game because Alyssa needs to fix everything before losing all her memories in a few hours. The author adds adventure and thrills to maintain the exciting momentum.
I also liked the personal angle of how Alex tries to help Alyssa with her emotions. Alex and Alyssa have always shared an incredible bond, and I loved their relationship. Moreover, I liked the complex dynamics that Alyssa’s friends go through where they blame Alyssa and her powers for putting them in danger. Similarly, I also like how some of the characters came back, like Regulus. I wish the author made more characters from the first book make an appearance as I missed seeing them.
Furthermore, the author also spices things up by telling the story from multiple perspectives. I liked how some of Alyssa’s friends were more hostile towards her, but some of them wanted to help and give her another chance. I particularly liked the scenes where Alyssa gets aboard the hovercraft to rescue Scooter and her friends. The villains of the story, like Boo-Champ Corey, also add nicely to the series. While I still feel that Errol was the most memorable, I negatively liked Mistress Margaret and Boo-Champ Corey.
Overall, “The New Enchantress” is a fun continuation of the series, and I look forward to the next book.
