A classic sort of love story…except somebody might wind up dead.
Nobody knows Delilah as Logan does. Nobody. He makes sure of it by learning everything he can through her social media and watching her through a hidden camera he has trained on her house. Some might call him a stalker. Logan prefers to be called “romantic.”
But after Logan sees Delilah killing her abusive stepfather, he realizes there’s still more about her to discover. His sweet, perfect Delilah isn’t so perfect after all.
Delilah knows she should feel guilty, but all she feels is free. She’s so over the men in her life controlling her. Except Logan saw what she did, and he won’t let her forget it.
Delilah is done being the victim. And she refuses to be a character in Logan’s twisted fantasy. If Logan doesn’t let her go…she’ll make him.
About the Author:
Jesse Q Sutanto grew up shuttling between Jakarta and Singapore and saw both cities as her homes. She has a Masters’s degree from Oxford University, though she has yet to figure out a way of saying that without sounding obnoxious.
She is currently living back in Jakarta on the same street as her parents and about seven hundred meddlesome aunties. When she’s not tearing out her hair over her latest WIP, she spends her time baking and playing FPS games. Oh, and also being a mom to her two kids.
The Obsession Review:
“The Obsession” was a quick read but so entertaining! It reminded me of a young adult version of the Netflix series “You.”
I enjoyed the author’s style of writing. She narrates the story in a fluid yet straightforward manner that immediately engrosses you in the story and the character. From the moment you start reading, you realize that something is wrong with Logan. Similarly, Delilah is complex because of how she handles the situation with Brandon and Logan. As the story progresses, you begin to wonder how Delilah will get out of the mess. Logan seems to cover his tracks pretty well, and the story goes as a cat and mouse game on how they can outdo each other.
Moreover, the author maintains the thrill factor wonderfully, where you find yourself at the edge of your seat. There is never a dull moment as the author adds shocking surprises from time to time. Some moments that made the story memorable were when Logan calls the police initially when Delilah doesn’t meet his demands or when Logan finds out about the NUS program. On a side note, I also feel proud of learning new terms like “Delusional disorder” and “Erotomania.”
However, the climax felt rushed, as many things happen quickly towards the end. Nevertheless, now that this is the first book in a series, I look forward to the sequel to figure out how the plot continues.
Overall “The Obsession” is the perfect book to pick up if you are in the book for a gripping young adult thriller about a creepy stalker.
