Sapphira Dawn had been lied to about her identity.

Now the gods agree she should never have been created in the first place.

Her very existence means that the gods aren’t playing by the rules, and as they ready their game pieces for the next battle, Sapphira must gather her allies before they – and the entire mortal realm – are wiped from the board.

But someone close to her is hiding a deadly secret.

A secret that will make Sapphira question what she is fighting for.

As her allies vanish one by one, Sapphira spirals deeper into her unstable magic, drawn in by the addictive high and wicked release it offers.

If Sapphira can’t control the darkness within, the mortal realm will fall, and everything she knows and loves will be nothing more than ashes and dust.

Wicked Darkness Review:

Nightmare Kings and Djinn Princesses are just some of the few exciting people you will encounter in “Wicked Darkness.”

Before you start reading this story, you must read the prequel “Awaken.” While you can read this as a standalone, you will not fully impact the storyline and the characters unless you read the previous book. The author picks up right where the first book left off. Sapphira shines in the story yet again as she roots to her magic. We also see our favorite back, like Lyra and Hunter from the first book, and I enjoyed reading their scenes.

My favorite moments in the story were when Sapphira goes with Elora on the quest or when Sapphira wants to read Theresa’s journal entries. Ravi was a welcome addition to the cast, and I enjoyed reading about him since his first appearance. It was interesting to see how Sapphira managed her conflicting feelings for Ravi, wondering if he would be like Raine. On a side note, I want to mention that I loved the Indian-styled names that the author incorporated into the tale.

Moreover, there were scenes where I was at the edge of my seats. For instance, when Sapphira sees the Pishacha attack, or the climax were some moments where I could not put the book down. The author ups the game in the book with betrayal, vengeance, and shocking revelations. The author paces the story to a gripping climax that eventually leads to a shocking cliffhanger that will leave you speechless. The series is very addictive if you read it from the beginning.

Overall, “Wicked Darkness” is the exciting continuation to “Awaken,” and I enjoyed reading it a lot!
